Visit a local museum

This week is the perfect time to stop in a local museum. Why not check out one of these Kidding Around Greenville’s favorites:

Go on a day trip

Hop in the car and head to one of our mom-recommended day trip destinations! We have guides for:

Explore a new park playground

Why not try one of the playgrounds on this list of our top 6 playgrounds in Greenville? Or 9 More Great Parks in Greenville? Or check out our giant Park Guide where you can sort the list by features you’d like in a park like swings, a basketball court, nature trail, and more!

See the animals at the Greenville Zoo

My kids love the Greenville Zoo with its small shady paths and a great variety of animals, plus a new baby giraffe and monkey. Remember to save time to play at Cleveland Park after your visit.

Try a new sport

It may not seem like it, but cooler temperatures are on the way. There are plenty of places within short driving distances to try out a new winter sport when that mercury drops. See our list of recommended places here!

Enjoy free fun downtown

Did you know that there are so many free things to do in downtown Greenville that we created a list of 10 free things to do downtown? We also have a similar list for parents of small children of 8 free things to do with your toddler in Greenville.

Go on a hike

Greenville has lots of great parks to hike and walk at. There are some awesome places to hike with toddlers and Greenville is centrally located to many of the gorgeous state parks where our readers love to hike with their families.

And don’t forget about all the nearby beautiful waterfalls to go chasing after!

Go to the library

I know that going to the library seems like an everyday type of adventure, but you can shake it up by attending a program, playing games, or going to story time. (Plus, all those books that you check out will help keep the kids from saying, “I’m bored” all day.)

Ride a bike on the Swamp Rabbit Trail

You can rent bikes or grab your own bikes and head down the Swamp Rabbit Trail for a day of adventures. Hang out for a bit at the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and let the kids play in the enclosed play area while you relax with a coffee. They’ve also added ping pong and some other games inside their “shed.”

Give back to the community

Why not use a day volunteering for a local charity or just take an hour to pick up trash at a local park. Here’s a list of places to volunteer with young children and here is a mom review of her experience volunteering with her kids at Meals on Wheels.

What will your family do over the next school break?
