About Summer Shakespeare
Summer Shakespeare is a local theater company that focuses on high-quality, affordable productions for the whole family. Located in Greenville, SC, they have been performing Shakespeare’s plays since 1995.
The company makes each play more family-friendly by cutting the length of each play and substituting current words for some words that are more obsolete. And while some well-behaved 2-3 year olds have quietly sat through some productions, they tend to see more enjoyment from children around 4-5 years old and up.
Summer 2022 Show: Love’s Labor Lost
This year, Summer Shakespeare is introducing you and your family to four beautiful and brainy women… four scholars-turned-suitors… and a troupe of confident yet clumsy clowns in Shakespeare’s romantic comedy Love’s Labor Lost.

All shows begin at 7:30 pm and last roughly one hour + intermission with the exception of a matinee performance on June 25

Accessibility Preview
Summer Shakespeare wants everyone to be able to enjoy the plays, so every year they offer a free accessible preview performance for those with autism or other special needs. Here are some of the ways they modify the performance for accessibility:
- House lights stay up
- Limited use of lights
- Limited use of loud noises
- More room to accommodate wheelchairs or those who prefer to stand and move around
These special previews are a great way for families to enjoy theater performances in a more comfortable way.
