Selfie museums started popping up in large cities in 2019, and Greenville residents have been patiently waiting for a place of their own to go and grab photos to make their social media feeds pop. The Pixel Experience In Greenville, SC

If you’ve never had the chance to visit a place like The Pixel Experience, you’re in for a treat! The concept behind places like this is to offer guests a selection of backdrops to create unforgettable photos in. It’s called a selfie museum, but it’s so much better if you can go with a friend! I’ll get to why in a minute.

At The Pixel Experience, you’ll have an hour to take all the photos you want in 20 different settings. The best way to get the most of your hour is to try and plan for how you want to take advantage of each theme. If you don’t have the chance to do this, that’s ok too. You can scroll through The Pixel Experience’s Instagram account tags for inspiration.

Planning Ahead For The Pixel Experience

If you do have the time to plan out your trip, these are the scenes you’ll encounter on your visit when The Pixel Experience opens. The scenes will be swapped out from time to time, so if you like the scenes you see, don’t wait to book your trip, because they won’t be the same forever. While the museum has some props to accompany the scenes, bring your own if you want to get really creative. This will also make for unique, one-of-a-kind shots!

  • The Pool
A ball pit filled with blue balls, this is a great place to imagine yourself floating all your troubles away!
  • Money Washroom
No one likes a dirty dollar bill. Get that money super clean in the money laundering room!
  • The VIP Lounge
After you get that money all cleaned up, bring it over to the VIP! Complete with a leather sofa and velvet rope, everyone will see you’re a VIP.
  • The Throne
This red room with a red velvet throne screams royalty. There are so many possibilities for this room!
  • Rotary Phone Wall
Two antique wall-mounted rotary phones make a perfect scene for sibling or best friend photos!
  • Donut Wall
This is the most delicious place in the museum! Wall to wall donuts, but don’t worry; they are calorie-free.
  • The Album Cover Wall
The wall and floor in this spot are covered in album covers.
  • Green Room/Classroom
This room can provide you with a green backdrop to do creative things once you get home, and it’s set up with a desk and chalkboard to be a classroom.
  • Wild Wall
Green foliage and a purple neon “Wild” sign
  • Love Wall
Cuddle up with your kids, or your Hunny and grab a pic on the sofa.

These are just half of the fun themes you can play with at The Pixel Experience!

Tips For Your Visit To The Pixel Experience

The museum has 20 different options to choose from, and depending on how much time you spend in each; it might take multiple trips to make the most of each. Pick a few of your favorites and plan to focus on those, this time and that will give you the chance to see all of the scenes up close and plan your next trip. The Pixel Experience allows you to change outfits, so plan to get lots of content for your social feed!

Remember how I said earlier, it’s better to visit with a friend? It’s not impossible to visit alone and with the help of a tripod (this is how I visited Portal CLT). However, aside from the obvious need for a photographer, you will feel so much less self-conscious if you are posing silly with a friend or family member. It results in spontaneous poses that are more fun, and it’s reflected in the photos. Professional photographers are allowed to accompany you; they need to pay for admission as well.

We are still experiencing a pandemic and the museum has these Covid-19 protocols reflected on their website:
“The health and safety of our customers and employees is our top priority. All guests and staff are required to wear masks. Masks can be taken off while taking pictures. Upon entry, please sanitize your hands. Our exhibits will be sanitized at opening and closing. Frequently touched items will also be sanitized throughout the day.”
