Wondering if that event is taking place or that favorite shop or park is open due to Coronavirus? Here’s a list of places reopening and what remains closed in Greenville, Spartanburg and Upstate locations.

We’ll be updating this list regularly with new information. Please let us know if you are aware of a family or kid friendly event or venue that’s been reopened.

Places Reopening in the Upstate

Childcare

Need open child care? Here’s a list of open child care facilities in the Upstate.

KidsZone Drop-In Hourly Childcare is open.

Giggles Drop-In Childcare is open at Pelham Road and Greenville.

Greenville Martial Arts Center is open and is accepting kids for childcare services.

Big Blue Marble Academy is open with revised practices.

Places in the Outdoors that are Open

Greenville playgrounds are open.

Falls Park and the Cancer Survivors Park are open.

The Swamp Rabbit Trail is open.

Most trails in Dupont Forest are open.

Lake Conestee Nature Preserve is opening their paved trails on May 18th.

Cottonwood Trail in Spartanburg is open.

Greenville County Parks are open but playgrounds remain closed.

Greenville County Water Parks will re-open on June 15th.

Greenville Aquatic Center is open.

Heritage Park Railway reopens May 30th.

City of Greer’s larger parks are open with restrictions.

Clemson Experimental Forest has reopened most trails.

SC State Parks have reopened.

North Carolina State Parks will open May 9th with some restrictions.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park is open.

Gorges State Park and Pisgah National Forest will reopen partially on May 13th.

Grandfather Mountain, Mt. Mitchell, Chimney Rock, and Lake James are open.

The Biltmore is open.

The NC Arboretum will reopen in phases starting May 9th.

Sassafras Observation Tower is open.

Schools & Libraries

Greenville County Schools are closed through end of school year.

Spartanburg County Schools are closed through the end of the school year

Spartanburg County Libraries are offering curbside pickup Book boxes have been placed outside of each branch for patrons to help themselves to books.

Greenville County Libraries are offering curbside pickup. Audiobooks and digital book options are available online.

Ivy Brook Academy tentatively plans to reopen May 18th.

Public Events & Attractions

Greenville Zoo is re-opening to members May 29-31 and to the general public on June 8.

Butterfly Adventure at the Roper Mountain Science Center is cancelled for 2020.

The Children’s Museum of the Upstate (Greenville & Spartanburg) are phasing in the re-opening of the buildings with summer camps starting in June.

The Upcountry History Museum reopens June 9th

Kangaroo Jax is open.

DEFY trampoline park is open.

SkyZone is open.

Pump It Up will open on June 1st.

Escape Artist Greenville is open.

Big Air is open.

Free Forest School has cancelled all their events until further notice.

Greenville Trolley has reopened with new routes.

Gymboree in Greenville is open.

Home Depot Kids Workshops– All local Home Depot stores have cancelled kids workshops at this time. You can pick up a craft kit for free.

Lowe’s DIY Kid Workshops – All Lowe’s stores have cancelled their kid workshops (actually all workshops are cancelled).

Mountain Play Lodge in Asheville is closed.

Pepsi Party Pack pickup is suspended.

The South Carolina Children’s Theatre will suspend all programming planned through Spring 2020

WNC Nature Center is closed.

Yellowbobbypins Art Camp is closed but has some fun Facebook posts to help parents while school is out.

Riverbanks Zoo is open.

Gaffney Outlets have reopened.

Westgate Mall in Spartanburg has opened

Haywood Mall has reopened.

Sports & Activities

Airborne Athletics is reopening with limited classes on June 1.

Carolina Music Museum is closed

Kroc Center Greenville is open.

CESA will be holding tryouts in mid-June.

YMCA Greenville is open.

YMCA of Greater Spartanburg is open.

Creating Artists for Tomorrow is planning to have summer camps.

Little League season delayed until May 11th or later.

REI has curbside pickup available.

Greenville Drive has announced that Minor League Baseball is currently delaying the start of the 2020 season. A start date will be announced once it is determined to be safe to do so. Tickets will go on sale once a start date has been announced.

Greenville Triumph SC soccer team is postponing their season.

Swamp Rabbits Hockey has suspended the remainder of their season.

Topgolf is reopening on June 8th.

Tryon International Equestrian Center has cancelled their entire Saturday Night Lights program for the summer of 2020.

Local Universities

Bob Jones University– BJU plans to hold in-person classes in the Fall of 2020.

Clemson University– all classes are online for the rest of the semester. They are planning to hold classes in-person for the Fall 2020 semester.

Furman University– Planning to hold in-person classes in the Fall 2020 semester.

Greenville Tech is closed.

Travel

Walt Disney World will start to reopen on July 11th.

Universal Studios in Florida will reopen on June 5th.

Dollywood and Dollywood Splash Country is opening to the public on June 17th.

Carowinds is postponing its open date.

Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, NC is opening in June.

Legoland Florida theme park and water park are opening on June 1.

Six Flags Over Georgia will re-open on June 15th, and White Water will re-open on June 29th. Both will ONLY be open to all unpaused season pass holders and members.

The Georgia Aquarium will re-open on June 15th to the general public. Tickets MUST be prepurchased online.

The Chick-fil-a in Travelers Rest has closed its playground. North Greenville University has moved to online classes only.
