Christmas in NYC Coming to Greenville, SC this Holiday Season

Posted on | No Comments

I grew up just outside of New York City so I was fortunate enough to see the city during Christmas time and what a sight it was! The festive shows on Broadway, the beautiful tree at Rockefeller Plaza, the people skating at Rockefeller Center with angels lining the sidewalks and just an overall feel that something special was happening. Greenville is quite a ways from NYC but thanks to the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, we can experience that same holiday spirit right in the heart of town at the Peace Center this year.

Holiday at Peace 2

Holiday at Peace

Holiday at Peace is a celebration of all things festive and special about this season that plays to our senses and ignites the holiday spirit. The Greenville Symphony Orchestra is putting on three nights of an unforgettable show at the Peace Center where the audience will be swept away to New York City to experience the holiday festivities as if they were at Rockefeller Plaza themselves.

The show is being hosted by Jamarcus Gaston, one of our very talented television personalities right here in Greenville. Edvard Tchivzhel is the conductor with Broadway Star, Rachel York, as soprano. Guests will be delighted by dancers from the International Ballet as well.

The audience will recognize many of the songs included in Holiday at Peace such as “All I Want for Christmas is You”, “Sleigh Ride”, “Let it Snow”, and a personal favorite, although not necessarily a Christmas song, “I Will Always Love You” by Dolly Parton.

The music is enchanting and to be able to sit and listen to those sounds while in the midst of the Christmas season will be quite the unforgettable experience, one that families will remember for a long time to come. Enjoying Holiday at Peace is also a fantastic opportunity to take time to get away from the constant on-the-go feeling of what is often a crazy holiday season and carve out just a couple hours to really be in the moment and present with your family without distraction.

About Greenville Symphony Orchestra

The Greenville Symphony Orchestra has been a cornerstone of Greenville culture and history for the past 75 years and is celebrating that milestone this year.

A symphony orchestra is composed of up to 100 musicians who play four basic types of instruments: strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussions. To be able to attend a symphony orchestra concert or event is quite the big deal. It is an amazing experience and takes no small amount of talent, practice, and expertise.

The Greenville Symphony Orchestra puts on many events every year but invests an extraordinary amount of time in community outreach and programs, many of which are free. They seek to educate, inspire, and enrich listeners of all ages and usually conducts over a 100 free events per year, reaching more than 25,000 South Carolinians.
