Do you need a childcare for your school-aged child that can offer bilingual support for Spanish speaking families? Here’s a list of Greenville and Upstate, SC facilities that offer childcare for school-age children who can provide assistance to Spanish speaking families.

The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club

The mission of the Boys & Girls Club is “to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” In addition to receiving support for Virtual School and e-Learning, children have afterschool programming opportunities that include sports, swim, games and more.

Academic Assistance Offered: Trained staff members provide a welcoming space for children to complete eLearning and Virtual Learning while giving brain breaks throughout the day.

Health and Safety COVID-19 Policies: The Boys and Girls Club will continue to operate at a lesser capacity. Temperatures will be taken before entry. Families will be asked to follow COVID-19 procedures if exposure or positive testing occurs. Staff will continue to wear masks. Group activities will be accomplished via small groups.

New Generation Daycare

Ages: 1 – 14 years old

Academic Assistance Offered: New Generation staff is trained to work with each age group on their developmental level. New Generations supports learning for preschoolers during the day, have regular bible classes and prayer times, and offer homework help and computer stations for after-school care.

Bilingual Support for Spanish Speaking Families: Yes

Health and Safety COVID-19 Policies: Staff checks temperatures of both the child and the staff members at the door and require hand sanitizer and use of a shoe disinfectant mat. Staff wears masks throughout the day. Additionally, temperatures are checked regularly during the day and toys and surfaces are disinfected regularly.

The Spinning Jenny

The E-leaning PLUS Young Arts Club includes monitored e-learning classes PLUS weekly enrichment classes geared specifically for the arts. The Spinning Jenny is a large, open facility with plenty of room for children to social distance.

Ages: 1st – 7th grade

Hours: 8 am – 3 pm, Monday through Friday

Academic Assistance Offered: The Spinning Jenny will have monitored e-learning by a retired school teacher and current college professors. They are offering arts classes (theatre, art, dance) as part of every student’s learning experience.

Tuition: $135 a week or $40 a day, includes enrichment classes & a daily snack

Enrichment Hills

Enrichment Hills is a working South Carolina non-profit educational farm in Dacusville providing learning for students through hands-on experiential education with animals and the land.

Academic Assistance Offered: A staff member with a Masters degree in in Education supervises e-learning.

Health and Safety COVID-19 Policies: Enrichment Hills’ COVID-19 guidelines are available here. They address the use of personal protective equipment (i.e., masks), hand washing, social distancing, testing prior to enrollment, and what to do if and when a student feels sick.

After School Plus

After School Plus is the academic solution to after school care and online learning support for students in K-8th grade. Classes are led by teachers to ensure learning is successful!

Program Hours: We have 3 programs. After school is from end of school day until 5:30 pm, Full day program on eLearning days is from 8:30 am until 3 pm with the option to join after school until 5:30 pm. Academic support for virtual students only is from 9 am until 12 pm.

Ages: K-8th

Academic Assistance Offered: Instruction led by certified teachers. Participants can complete online assignments, live or recorded and complete independent work. Because we are staffed with teachers, content can be retaught or supplemented as needed.

Bilingual Support for Spanish Speaking Families: Yes

Health and Safety Covid-19 Policies: We will maintain small group cohorts with no mixing of groups. We require mask wearing for all students and staff at all times. Classrooms are set up with desks spaced appropriately. We have cleaning and sanitation of spaces multiple times per day. Supplies are not shared among groups.

Tuition: After School is $79/week. Full day programs on eLearning days are $40/day. Academic support for virtual students is $200/week. There is a tuition cap of $200 per week.

Dianne's School of Dance

DSOD is celebrating their 51st year. We will offer a program every Friday for Gym, Art, Music, and simple play time after they e-learn. Come after lunch and spend 4 hours with us!

Program Hours: Part Time program on Fridays from 1:15-5:30 pm.

Ages: 5K – 8th Grade

Academic Assistance Offered: We will only provide the Related Arts for our program. We will have a few certified teachers during some of the Fridays.

Mosaic Educational and Arts Program

Mosaic offers artistic, academic, and cultural programs for students whose second language is English. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we now provide food-relief and all-day virtual school.

Ages:  2nd grade – HS

Academic Support Offered:  “Current Mosaic staff – one has and Education degree from Furman, one has a Music & education degree from The University of The Arts, one is bilingual in Spanish and English with a Biology & Public health degree from Furman”

Bilingual Support for Spanish Speaking Families: Yes

Health and safety Covid-19 policies: 

  • Staff and children’s temperatures will be taken when they arrive each day, as well as a health questionnaire. They will then wash their hands
  • Children will not be permitted to stay if they have a temperature of 100.4 or above
  • No one is allowed on site other than children and staff. Parents stay in car during drop off and pick up
  • Staff and children’s Temperatures will be taken again at lunch, snack, and recess. Hands will be washed hourly.
  • If a child should spike a fever greater than 100.4 during the day, a parent will be called and must pick up within 30 minutes
  • If a child or staff member is sent home due to a fever, they must be fever free for 3 days and not have any respiratory symptoms. They must quarantine for at least 10 days since symptoms began. They can return sooner if cleared by a medical doctor in writing.
  • Students will be separated into classrooms by families (this includes cousins or neighbors that are in daily contact with each other at home) so we are not sharing germs.
  • Masks will be required for staff at all times. Masks will be required for students as much as possible, especially in the hallway, bathroom, etc. If all students in a classroom are from the same family, they can take their masks off in their classrooms. Masks will be placed inside of provided, individually labeled baskets
  • Breakfast, lunch, and snack will be eaten outside as much as possible – hand washing before and after. No sharing of food. Students are responsible for throwing their own trash away and cleaning their eating area.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the building
  • Staff will disinfect periodically throughout the day (specifically, high-touch areas), and a deep cleaning after students leave
  • If a student tests positive, all those in close contact will quarantine for 14 days. Students can return once they receive medical clearance
  • If a staff member tests positive, program will close for 14 days
  • Staff will receive additional training on covid-19 protocols, guidelines, etc.

Tuition:

***COVID-19 7:30 – 2:30 cost, $50/week per family (scholarships and sliding scale offered)
***Typical Program: $60/month per family (scholarships and sliding scale offered)

 

Adora Childcare

Program Hours: We will offer after-school pick up from Oakview Elementary, Monarch Elementary, Bells Crossing Elementary and Rudolph Gordon. Full day e-learning days are available per district’s schedule from 7 am to 6 pm, Monday-Friday.

Ages: 4K-5th grade

Academic Assistance Offered: We will have a teacher(s) schedule daily for E-learning days.

Bilingual Support for Spanish Speaking Families: We have several bilingual staff if families need assistance.

Health and Safety Covid-19 Policies: Daily health screenings for staff and families, extra sanitation in classrooms/facility, staff, families, vendors & therapist required to wear a mask, small group sizes and social distancing where and when possible, and new playground and gym schedule to reduce blending of classrooms.

After school bus pick up & 4 days virtual/e-learning $160 or $80 plus $20 per day if less than 4 days
