When mayhem hit the Upstate during the early days of the novel coronavirus crisis in mid-March (how was that only a month ago?!) and restaurants needed to turn around their business models in a 24-hour time period, a local sign maker sprang into action.
Steve Craig owns SC Premier Signs, and makes everything from big signs and banners to t-shirts and promotional products. He grew up in the restaurant business – his parents still own and run a restaurant in Virginia Beach – so he knew what local restaurants were facing. This was a do or die moment.
Already having connections in the local restaurant community and with other businesses, he started making banners that read “OPEN for Takeout and Pickup Orders” and dropped them off around town. He gave out as many as he could make and ended up donating about 30 of these to local restaurants.
And this is why we wanted to write this story. Because we need good news right now, and we need to see how businesses are helping each other.
Steve’s small act of kindness didn’t end there. He’s currently finding ways to involve the community as they search for ways to help others.
Part of his job is design work so he put that skill to use and made these cool shirts that say StayStrongGVL. You can buy a shirt and Steve will donate a shirt to people working on the frontlines of this crisis in Greenville like healthcare workers and EMTs. There is no set price for the t-shirt so just give what you can and know you’ll get to wear a cool t-shirt along with all the other frontline workers battling the virus.
StayStrongGVL t-shirts are available in navy or charcoal and sizes adult small to 3XL. Call or text 864-608-0518 to order or send a message to the SC Premier Signs Facebook page. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“The only way we are getting through this is if we stick together,” Steve said. He’s a dad to two adorable children and him and his wife live here in Greenville.
And this is one of the reasons why we love Greenville.
