August 18 – Paddington 2
As evening sets and the sun goes down, families are invited to join in the fun each month of the summer. This event is sponsored by Hub City Church and many other local businesses. Even though it is hosted by a local church, this event is just a movie and giveaways – no sermon included.
Hub City Church shows these movies free of charge in downtown Spartanburg simply because they love the city and want to make it “a better place to live and play.” They hope everyone in Spartanburg will attend.
What to bring
While you do not need to bring any money, you probably want to bring something for your family to sit on to watch the film. My family brings a large blanket. Since these movies are shown in Barnet Park, please remember that no smoking or pets are allowed according to park rules.
This year popcorn and soft drinks will not be provided, so you should plan to bring your own snacks and drinks.
Where is it located?
Conveniently located in Barnet Park, parking is easy to find in the parking garages near the area. We tend to park in the St. John Street Parking Garage by Chapman Cultural Center.
When the movies show
The movies will start once it is dark enough to see them on the screen, so the times change over the summer. In addition, the weather plays its role. For more information about specific times for the films, please contact 864-576-4111 that week. My family tends to head to the park around 7:30 pm for these films.
