Meet Dr. Ashley Carter
Dr. Ashley Carter is a board-certified pediatrician who trained at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of South Carolina / Palmetto Health. Being board-certified is important when seeking a provider because it means Dr. Carter voluntarily exceeded state licensing requirements for practicing medicine with an ongoing commitment to continuously expand her knowledge in a medical specialty, like pediatrics.
Dr. Carter is not only a Mom, but her background pursuing professional level ballet helps her understand the importance of optimal health and function of children. Prick her and you’ll find out that she bleeds orange, too! When Dr. Carter’s move from Lake Murray expanded SouthernMED to Clemson, she said: “I’ve been a Clemson fan ever since I was little and I bleed orange! It’s just a good place. I spent my college years in Clemson and I’m really excited to get back up there. I think it will be a great area to practice in and a fun place to be. It’s God’s country!”

Selecting a pediatrician when you’re expecting
Did you know the best time to research and select a pediatrician is while you’re expecting? If you are pregnant and would like your child to become a patient of Dr. Carter’s after birth, just let your OB or the hospital where you are delivering know that your child will be a SouthernMED patient. The hospital will notify SouthernMED once the baby is born.
