STEM Camps

Sylvan also has an exceptional STEM program called Sylvan EDGE. You can help your child build a love of learning and innovation to prepare for a bright future in one of the rapidly increasing STEM jobs in our state and nation.

Think how exciting it is for your child to animate robots or better yet, build their own video game! Sylvan offers a variety of Robotics camps for kids in elementary grades. Students can build robots or design their own game characters and program them with animations to practice problem solving and logic.

Sylvan also offers Engineering, Mad Science, and Innovation Station camps to make learning and applying STEM concepts extra exciting. Students have fun solving problems collaboratively and testing their solutions for effectiveness. Each camp offers an interesting theme to spark imagination and creativity. Enroll in camps with friends or siblings to make the experience even more fun and engaging.

Summer Academic Camps

Sylvan’s Academic Camps for elementary and middle school students build math and reading skills over the summer to be well-prepared for the coming school year. Most summer camps are held Monday -Thursday from 1 to 3 pm. Students can prepare for Algebra, review fraction skills, and work to master basic math facts in very creative and interesting ways. Students use multi-sensory approaches to gain conceptual understanding and improve computational fluency to build confidence and accuracy. In August, a study skills camp will prepare students to start the year organized and prepared for success.

Kindergarten Kickstart camp at the Spartanburg center uses a variety of fun multi-sensory activities to develop early reading and writing skills. At the same time, an Adventures Book Club will be held to engage elementary students in reading with a variety of enjoyable activities that “sneak” in core reading skills. These camps are held concurrently each Friday morning in Spartanburg from 10 am-12 pm, June 10th through August 12th

Math Edge is available at the Sylvan Greenville center.  Math Edge prepares early high school students for the upcoming school year by working through the curriculum of Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 or 2, or Geometry. These independent and highly focused sessions prepare students to have an Edge in their next level of math.

New at Sylvan: Courses for Credit

Speaking of getting an edge, sign up for one of Sylvan’s high school Courses for Credit (or credit recovery) through the Columbia School and attend the Study Hall that gives parents the peace of mind that the work is getting done. College Prep and AP courses are available for those seeking to get ahead for early graduation or starting college with AP credits (save on college tuition and gain scholarships). These options are great for homeschoolers seeking interesting elective options, too. Call for a list of available courses.

College Prep Classes

Sylvan can make test prep easier for students with SAT and ACT prep courses that are now live, virtual, and interactive to make it more convenient for busy teenagers (and saves gas money). Local expert instructors help students learn and apply proven strategies to increase scores and decrease stress. Students can choose from SAT Math, SAT Verbal, ACT Verbal, or ACT Math/Science that each include 16 hours of direct instruction, a strategy explanation and practice workbook, unlimited boot camps, and a 1-year subscription to SylvanPrep.com with 1,000s of instructional videos, quizzes, multiple practice tests, and vocabulary building exercises. Take these classes this summer to free up your school year for all your normal classwork. Plus, you can save $100 if you sign up for 2 courses!
