Now that the days are shorter and colder, you might not be thinking about planning summertime adventures for your kids, but, it is actually the perfect time to register your kids for YMCA Camp Greenville’s overnight camp. Since many sessions are already booking up, you don’t want to wait too long, and if you register before December 2, you can take advantage of Camp Greenville’s Early Bird discounts.
Thanks to the YMCA for sponsoring Kidding Around Greenville!
For 106 years, Camp Greenville has created “magic on the mountain” for generations of children, teaching them valuable life skills while having a lot of fun and creating lifelong friendships. Camp Greenville has paddle sports, target sports, crafts and other activities you might expect, but what makes it so special?
As a part of the YMCA of Greenville, Camp Greenville is for Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. This means that camp leadership and staff are highly trained to help empower each camper to live up to their potential, to teach them life skills centered around healthy living and to look for way to give back to help others.
Here are a few specific ways the Camp Greenville experience is different:
- Connection – There is nothing like living in a screen-free, awe-inspiring mountaintop setting where the connections campers make are with nature, their friends and themselves – not the internet.
- Confidence – The activities that campers engage in are fun, but they are also designed to empower them to try new experiences. Seeing a smile on their faces after they accomplish something new is the best reward.
- Independence – Kids today aren’t able to be independent in the same way their parents were. Camp Greenville provides kids the opportunity to develop their independence in a structured and safe way.
- Camp experiences for all ages – Camp Greenville offers a weekly base camp for rising 2nd to 12th graders and adventure camps for rising 5th through 12th graders. Camp Greenville also offers a three-night “Mini Camps” for younger campers who may not be quite ready for a full week away from their families and a “Parent & Me” camp where younger campers and their parents can enjoy life at camp together.
- Nurses Onsite 24/7– Through a partnership with Prisma Health, Camp Greenville’s health hut is staffed by their professional nurses who volunteer their time to help campers with simple things like scrapes and headaches to managing a camper’s asthma or diabetes.
- Inclusion – Like most YMCA of Greenville’s programs, YMCA Camp Greenville offers scholarships so that any child can experience the magic of camp, regardless of ability to pay. Specialty camps for families with children on the autism spectrum and Down’s Syndrome are also available.
- It’s magical – Camp Greenville’s staff go above and beyond to make a unique, fun and educational experience for campers that is truly “Magic on the Mountain”. Nothing says it better than when asked what her favorite thing is about Camp Greenville, my child exclaimed, “Everything!”
Camp Greenville is a one-of-a-kind, special place, one where campers cannot wait to come back the next summer. Register your child’s spot today!
