Suga Pie Honeybun: Family Meals from Local, Greenville, SC Chef are Delicious

From cakes and desserts to private chef experience to catering, Chef Ebony at Suga Pie Honeybun does it all – and right here in Greenville, SC no less! She offered some of her bestselling dishes to us to try so we could write this review.

There are few things I love more than finding easier ways to feed my family during a busy week. I try to be intentional about menu planning, grocery shopping, and cooking regularly but it’s hard when you are trying to take care of the kids and do the million other things we have to do as parents to keep all the balls we are juggling in the air. This is the very reason why I was delighted when I met Chef Ebony, who runs a catering company called Suga Pie Honeybun.

Oh, and she’s an amazing pastry chef. Her signature dessert is a Strawberry Lemonade cake. I’ll get to that in this story but let me just say that Ebony is a cake wizard and I’ll be dreaming about it tonight. 

Suga Pie Honeybun 

Ebony started her catering company eight years ago while making the transition from heading up corporate catering divisions to starting her own business. She is a Greenville girl through and through, having grown up here, learning how to cook from her grandmother. She is very kind, thoughtful, and ambitious, which I just love. 

Ebony offers several services for clients such as personal chef services, catering for events and parties, and even cooking classes. 

Family Meals

Ebony totally understands how crazy life can get and how wonderful it is to have options for family meals, ones that are easy and delicious. 

She offers more than 15 options for family meals like Steak Fajitas, Tuscan Salmon with Mashed Potatoes, several kinds of lasagna, Chicken Parmesan, Baked Ziti, and Shrimp Primavera. She also has options to add a side like rolls or a salad. 

My family got to try the Shrimp Primavera, which had delicious pasta, generous portions of perfectly cooked shrimp, grape tomatoes, and lots of vegetables like yellow squash and zucchini. But the sauce – that was the topper on this excellent dinner. It was a kind of cream sauce with layer after layer of flavor. My kids don’t like shrimp or vegetables much yet they both had two servings because it was so good. 

You can order family meals directly on the Suga Pie Honeybun website. You can order meals to feed anywhere from two people up to 10 people. We had the meal that fed four people and we had a lot of leftovers, easily enough for another dinner. I love it when that happens.

Strawberry Lemonade Cake

Ebony has created a dessert that is just unreal in her Strawberry Lemonade cake. It’s a layer of lemonade sponge cake with a layer of strawberry cake and strawberry buttercream in between the layers. Plus, the cake is beautiful. I need to see Ebony on a cooking show channel competition because I think she’d kill it with this cake – and the family meals!
