This article is for informational purposes only. We have not personally checked the glasses on this list for safety. Please check all eclipse glasses and vendors to ensure safety.
A partial solar eclipse will be visible in Greenville on April 8th, 2024. To view it safely, you absolutely need to wear special glasses. This is of paramount importance. Long-term damage to the eyes can occur and “the retina can burn in as little as 30 seconds” when looking directly at the sun. Viewing the eclipse in totality is safe but glasses (or some other means of protection – regular sunglasses are not sufficient) are needed for any other viewing.
There are several places to buy eclipse glasses in the Greenville area. NOTE from the 2017 eclipse: NASA has warned that fake eclipse glasses are flooding the market so be careful in choosing the right ones. The glasses need to meet these guidelines. If you can’t get safe glasses from one of the local places below, the American Astronomical Society recommends buying from one of these reputable vendors. Please check all glasses before purchasing to ensure that they are safe.

They are out! They said they may get some in next week.

today at your office in Greer? Thank you
BiLo and Ace on Woodruff Rd are both out.
Palmetto Moon at Haywood Mall.
Thanks! They are currently sold out as of Thursday but said they are getting more in next week.
Just got some at the collectibles store at Haywood Mall. Can’t remember name by If you enter from food court parking lot, its first store before food court. Has movies, music, and graphic tshirts mostly. They were $2 each.
I just bought some at the mall at FYE. It’s in the food court as stated in Katie’s comment above. There were probably about 10 left after I purchased mine.
Thanks! Will check it out and see if they have any left.
Just got some at Stay Mobile in Downtown Greenville and they have plenty in stock.
Yup, they are on the list. Talked to them this morning and they had them in stock!
I just called StayMobile as well and they are 5$ each. Seems like they have plenty in stock.
They do. I talked to them today as well and they said the same.
They have more on order coming in on or before the 18th. You can ask to be put on the waitlist.
7-Eleven in Taylors has about 150 glasses. They are $1.99.
Carolina Olive Oil is sold out
Thanks Debbie. Just updated the post.
I bought my glasses at Wilson’s 5 & 10 after seeing them on this list a few days ago, but I noticed that they have since been completely removed from this page (as in not even on the “sold out” list). Curious if you received new information regarding the legitimacy of the ones they were/are selling?
We removed Wilsons 5 & 10 a reader sent a photo of glasses that were not ISO certified being sent there. We recommend caution as stated in the article on any glasses purchase from any supplier other than the reputable buyers listed by AAS.
Grady’s has been out since Saturday the 11th. Please make sure your update is correct as they are still showing as available according to your Update of today.
Thank you Janelle. We are updating our post.
I also bought glasses at Wilson’s this weekend. They are definitely not compliant. I called the store this morning and they indicated that the manager is off today and that I would need to speak with him regarding the glasses. The are clearly non compliant. I would love to know where compliant glasses can still be purchased.
Mast General Store is sold out as well.
Yes, got it.
Lowe’s on Poinsett Hwy sold out as well.
The Mauldin library is OUT of glasses!
Thanks Jenn!
7-11 in Taylors (3301 Wade Hampton) is sold out of glasses.
The glasses from Patsy’s Sunroom do not have anything certifying them on it.
The owner has a printed flier taped to the desk saying they are but the glasses do not. When I questioned it, she got defensive and rude about it.
I agree – I think these glasses at Patsys Sunroom are a fraud. I do not plan on using them and she should be questioned for putting people at risk.
I paid for them and then decided to throw them away.
It’s not worth the risk.
I too, questioned her. Advised I would post something on her Facebook page about her selling fake glasses. I think about all the kids who could have permanent retina damage from her. She was defensive and rude as well. But in the end, she does not care. She is making a large profit from these fake glasses.
We agree. If there is any question about the quality of a pair of glasses it’s better to throw them away. There are alternate ways of enjoying the eclipse too including a pinhole projector with your back to the sun or watching shadows.
I’m sorry to hear that. Please do not use any glasses that you are not confident of the quality of.
Just confirmed with the Ace Hardware on Woodruff Rd that they received a new shipment in of Solar Eclipse Glasses.
Thanks Josh!

Trying to get them on the Greenville News site. Are they still available?
The button to get the tickets isn’t allowing me to click on it. Will try to figure out what’s going on and update the post in a bit.
Chris – if you haven’t claimed them online, then they are out. Sorry. Check out some of the other places in the list that have some available still.
I claimed a pair online yesterday. I hope they reserved them for me!
Yeah, they said that if you claimed them and have the ticket, then you should be fine. But if you didn’t do that already, then they are sold out.
Any ideas now? Ace told me they were almost out and I was 20 minutes away.
They are out. Post is updated.
