Sesame Street has been entertaining and educating children for 50 years.

This means that grandparents are now able to watch the show they grew up with, along side their grandchildren.

We went tonight to see Sesame Street Live! Let’s Party! and brought my mother along for the fun! The 45 minute show is all about “C” for Celebration.

All your kid’s favorite characters are trying to help plan the  Community Center Celebration. (Did you see all the “C”s?)

Grover, Big Bird, Rosita, Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster and Abby Cadabby all participate in the planning of the community center party, while teaching a lesson in compromise. The live show also slips in a color lesson, number lesson and a language lesson – all things you would expect from something involving Sesame Street.

Mom Review of Sesame Street Live

My three year old daughter was dancing her heart out during the Big Bird dance portion of the show! Even my eight year old was bouncing along, although he’d probably deny it now. While I think this show is most appropriate for pre-school age children, the fast pace will keep almost any age audience member entertained.

The show is interactive for everyone in the audience, however the patrons in the floor seats got to enjoy a few added surprises. If you want to enjoy an up close and personal experience with the characters, the floor seats are for you.

I suggest arriving early, so you can walk the concourse and check out the extra character interactions they have stationed by the entrances. The community center puppet kiosk makes for a great photo opportunity.

There is also a wide variety of souvenirs to choose from, with prices starting at $3 for a character straw. Most items are between $14- $25.

A few things to remember when attending this show

  • The Bon Secours Wellness arena has a clear bag policy, details can be found here http://www.bonsecoursarena.com/info/clearbag
  • Parking in the arena garage is $5 during special events, have cash ready to hand the attendant upon entering. VIP lot parking is also available behind the arena for $10-$15.
  • For families with special needs members, the arena offers sensory safety kits to guests. Kits are free to use and can be picked up at the Guest Services Desk outside section 117.
