Tips for enjoying your trip to the pumpkin patch
Is there anything cuter than small children trudging through a pumpkin patch? Here are a few tips to help your family enjoy the day.
- Watch for fire ant hills and other biting insects, especially if it’s wet. Something about those fields seems to attract those pesky critters.
- Remind children to pick up pumpkins from the bottom and not the stem. It’s easier to carve with a good stem still attached and cracked or smashed fallen pumpkins really aren’t very much fun.
- Bring plenty of water, especially if you’re going to farm and plan to stay awhile. Fall in Greenville is often still pretty hot, and hunting for that perfect pumpkin might take a while.
- Consider bringing a picnic. Lots of the farms listed have picnic facilities and that gives you a chance to relax and enjoy the day a bit longer.

2023 KABOOM Awards Family Favorites Finalist: Family-Friendly Farms
This 900-acre farm located just north of I-85 between Anderson and Clemson boasts one of the largest corn mazes in the southeast. In addition to the maze, they offer a wide assortment of activities including play areas, farm animals and a u-pick pumpkin patch. The activities are all covered under one admission price. Denver Downs Farm is open daily late September through mid-November.

Strawberry Hill USA, is a 115-acre strawberry farm and also grows summer squash, pumpkins, cantaloupe, and cucumbers. They have a cafe and ice cream parlor open year round. Fall activities include Cooley’s Corn Maze as well as both pre-picked pumpkins and still on the vine pumpkin patch! Fall Activities will be held every Saturday & Sunday, Sept. 17th – Nov, 4th, 2022 from 10 am – 6 pm.

Jeter Mountain Farm is the result of more than 150 years of farming history in the Hunsader family. Located on 411 acres near Hendersonville and Brevard, this farm offers Choose N’ Cut Christmas Trees, plus u-pick includes berries, peaches, pumpkins, grapes, and over 20 varieties of apples. Pick pumpkins off the vine at Nix Pumpkin Patch in Hendersonville, NC. You’ll also find winter squash, cabbage, potatoes and gourds.
Beechwood Farms offers u-pick strawberries, pumpkins on the vine, sunflowers, and vegetables. They are open seasonally late April through mid-October.
The Golden Strip Pumpkin Patch
Two Locations, Simpsonville and Maulding, SC
The Golden Strip Pumpkin Patch’s proceeds support local non-profit charities. 2022 details are To Be Announced.
With over 20 different varieties of apples, you are bound to find a favorite at Grandad’s Apples N’ Such. They also have a bakery on-site that sells pies, donuts, caramel apples, and cider. Activities for kids include a corn maze, cow train, and a huge pumpkin patch where kids are bound to find their ideal pumpkin.

Farm Store and bakery
Visit Stewart Farms for wagon rides, farm store, farm animals, honey bee observatory, the SC MAiZE, and a pumpkin patch. The 2022 Fall Season begins on Saturday, September 24th and ends October 30th.
Nighttime activities include Big Boo: Family-Friendly Haunted Maize and Nighttime Wagon Rides. These are offered on October 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, 28th, and 29th. While the Big Boo is family-friendly, it is not recommended for children under the age of 6.

Primarily known for their incredible peaches, Fishers Orchard also grows apples that are available for picking in the fall (call for exact dates).

Located in West Union, Little Cane Creek Farm features a 4-acre corn maze, hayrides, children’s play area, pumpkin patch, and more. Each year the corn maze has a different theme. Little Cane Creek Farm’s 2022 fall season is October 1st – November 6th.

The Golden Strip Pumpkin Patch
The Golden Strip Pumpkin Patch in Simpsonville SC opens on October 1st, 2022. This event uses volunteers from the community to unload pumpkins on this date, we meet on Saturday at 9:00 am at the Eggs Up Grill parking lot, 305 North Main Street in Simpsonville. They are open Monday-Friday 10 am – 7:30 pm, Saturday 9 am – 7:30 pm, and Sunday 9 am – 4 pm. This Patch supports local Nonprofits: Friends of the Little White House, Lets Saddle Up (therapeutic riding), Upstate Young Marines, Upstate Warriors Solutions, and the Miram Foundation. Disciples United Methodist Church
The Disciples UMC Pumpkin Patch is slated to be open through the end of October. This pumpkin patch is right off of Roper Mountain Road tucked back near Pittman Park. Families can choose their perfect pumpkin any day of the week. They are open 9 am – 7 pm Monday – Saturday and Noon – 7 pm on Sundays. Sales benefit local mussions. 185 Riley Smith Drive, Greenville
St. Giles Presbyterian Church – 2022 Info Not Available Yet
The St. Giles Pumpkin Patch, open October 4th – 31st, benefits St. Giles Presbyterian Church’s youth group and their annual mission trips. The pumpkin patch is located at the corner of Hudson and Devenger Roads in Greenville and is open Monday-Saturday 10:30 am – 6 pm, and Sundays from Noon-6:30 pm.

St. Matthew United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch
The patch is open now until October 31st, 2022 (or until they sell out), 10 am – 7 pm Monday through Friday. All proceeds benefit Rebuild Upstate, United Ministries, Salkehatchie, and scholarships to St. Matthew UMC preschool. Schiele Museum Pumpkin Patch
Go learn about pumpkins at the Schiele Museum. Discover the natural history of pumpkins, what fruits are related to the pumpkin, the nutrition a pumpkin provides, and more! The Schiele Museum has both an indoor and outdoor pumpkin patch. The outdoor patch is only open to the public for pumpkin patch events.
