Pink Adventure Tours Have Arrived In Georgia at Callaway Gardens

Posted on | No Comments

Taking a private tour of an amazing place is on many people’s to-do list when they travel. Pink Adventure Tours, known for its iconic pink Jeeps, has arrived in Georgia at one of the best places the company could have chosen: Callaway Resort & Gardens. With hundreds of acres to explore, the Jeep makes it easy to see it all, plus you learn a little history as you go. We were invited to take a two-hour tour, and it was the best way to end our weekend.

Media tickets were given for this review, but the honest opinion is that of the writer.

About Pink Jeep Tours

Pink Adventure Tours has been around since 1960, starting in Arizona to take guests along the backroads without the stress of driving.

At Callaway, you’ve got bikes, trolleys, golf carts, and now a personalized Pink Jeep Tours of the grounds. The open-air Wranglers give you the breeze in your hair, and the waterproof top keeps you covered if rain shows up.

Our driver, Jenney, has lived in Pine Mountain her entire life and knew the story behind everything we passed. She was so lovely with the girls, helping them in and out using the Jeep’s fold-down stairs.

A Curated Tour, Based on What You Want to See

The tour can be curated to see what you want to see, with an interesting history lesson and off-road access to parts of the gardens others may miss.

We drove past lakes lined with changing leaves, through forests full of history, and past couples biking. We even got to see the set-up beginning for Fantasy In Lights, Callaway’s decades-old winter attraction. Jenney knew each section by heart, and said she remembered what each one is based on the music she hears in her head as we passed by the different (but very well done) unlit static Christmas light displays.

Our first stop was at the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center. We spent about 20 minutes there, getting mesmerized by the Blue Morphos, then headed to the Discovery Center to craft and create a birdseed pine cone, which my kids love. You could just as easily catch the Birds of Prey show or the aerial adventure park if you chose to.

We ended with a little piece of serenity at the Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel, so quiet and peaceful. Yellow water lilies bloomed on the lake out front, and the trees were just starting to turn red and yellow.

Along the way, we learned about the Callaway Brothers Azalea Bowl, one of the best azalea gardens in the country, plus fishing, golf, and even the residential side of Callaway (yes, people live here too!).

Prefer to head off property? The Historic Experience Tour stops at Dowdell’s Knob, the Little White House, and Fitzgerald Fruit Farms.

Why a Pink Jeep Tour is Great for Kids

Callaway is big, and little legs can only walk or bike so far. The Jeep does the heavy lifting between stops, so kids save their energy for the fun stuff, and you get to see parts of the park that you probably wouldn’t dream about going to with little kids.

My girls, 7 and 5, thought riding in a bright pink Jeep was the coolest thing ever. They loved the windows being open, how the seats were aligned vertically to the driver instead of usual fashion, and that they got to try out some old-school lap seat belts.

A few tips: dress in layers, wear closed-toe shoes, and don’t stress about a little rain. The top keeps you covered.
