Many transformations have happened in Downtown Greenville over the years, and with change comes growth! Ashley Brickner, owner of GVL Art Gallery & Shop on Main Street, has flowed gracefully with the changes, and transformed Open Art Studios into the GVL Art Gallery & Shop.
Miss Ashley is Kind of Famous
Miss Ashley is Ashley Brickner, a local artist who sketches portraits of families, kids, and pets. She also teaches at drink & draw kind of classes and a local senior center, plus does face painting. She also draws Signature Sonograms for expectant parents, which are just gorgeous.
You may have heard of Ashley. She has previously worked on projects that are breathtaking and emotive, including sonogram pictures she sketched from parents who lost their baby during pregnancy. That was where I first heard of Ashley and didn’t connect the dots until I was looking through one of Ashley’s books at the studio and saw the sonogram sketches.
I put two-and-two together and tried to stay cool, but Ashley is just amazing and so creative – it was awesome to meet her. I totally wasn’t fangirling. Nope.
Over the last few months, Ashley and the artists featured in the gallery, have transformed from Open Art Studios into GVl Art Gallery & Shop. This transformation, along with the inclusion of Flying Fox Coffee, is bringing new life to the studio space for a bright future!

Each artist brings their own style to the table, so something can be discovered and cherished by anyone who enters to shop. The gallery is a wonderful place to find a special gift for a loved one because there is nothing more wonderful than receiving a thoughtful gift. Especially when that gift supports local artists! You can also find pieces that resonate with your own personal style to give your home a special touch. You can visit the studio during business hours, but can also visit during First Fridays monthly art party from 6 pm – 9 pm the first Friday of each month.
Grab a Drink from Flying Fox Coffee
Not only will your senses be emersed in the fabulous art found at the gallery, but you can also entice your senses with a cup of delicious coffee from Flying Fox Coffee Co. They have your espresso classics, but also have some delicious specialty drinks on the menu that are consistently excellent. My personal go-to is Violet Eyes, which has lavender, coconut, honey, and vanilla added to my much needed espresso shots. Flying Fox Coffee Co. is open daily from 7 am – 6 pm at the GVl Art Gallery & Shop.
