Laugh Out Loud at Our Mom Comedy Night With Alchemy Comedy

Posted on | No Comments

Come meet other moms, have fun and laugh a lot on our Mom Comedy Night with Alchemy Comedy! One of the questions we get at Kidding Around most frequently is in regards to moms meeting other moms. Being a stay at home mom, or a working mom can be lonely sometimes. We just want to commiserate with other adults that can relate.

Something else we hear a lot of is how hard it is to make plans to go do something with other moms. Something that for one reason or another always seems hard to do. Well, we listed to our readers, and we want to help!

We are collaborating with The Alchemy Comedy Club in Greenville for a Mom Comedy Night! Grab your mom friends and head downtown on Saturday July 27th at 7:30,  for some side splitting improv comedy. Tickets are just $10 at the door or in advance online.

No child care? That’s ok, it’s a family friendly show so come anyway! We want to connect moms with other moms and let them have a little clean fun in the process.

Mom Review Alchemy Comedy Club

Haven’t been to a show at Alchemy Comedy yet? Kidding Around Contributor Melanie has been and is sharing her experience with us.

Have you ever laughed so hard that you thought to yourself –  “OK, this is how I’m going to die. From laughing? I need to stop!” The first time I can remember laughing that way was during a movie in my 20’s. But, most recently it was at Alchemy Comedy.

If you haven’t sat in the audience for a show at Alchemy Comedy Theater, then you just aren’t laughing at your full potential. Located inside of Coffee Underground in downtown Greenville, the Alchemy Comedy Theater has been been making people laugh since 2011. Weekly offerings include a combination of improv, sketch and stand-up comedy. Coffee Underground offers food, coffee, and alcoholic drinks on its menu for patrons to enjoy before, during and after the show.

Fans of shows like “Whose Line is it Any Way” and skits on the “Tonight Show” will love the improv shows at the theater. I have no idea how they come up with things so quickly that are so funny. Every show I’ve been to I’ve left with my sides aching, thinking “I can’t wait to come back soon!”

My favorite part is when they grab an innocent bystander from the audience to participate. Be warned though, when the troupe asks for a volunteer, only volunteer yourself. One night I attended a show with my younger sister and when a request for volunteers happened she tried to volunteer me. Turns out the troupe has an unspoken rule, those who volunteer others wind up getting chosen.

I’ll have to admit though, she certainly knocked it out of the park, that little sister of mine. In fact she did so well up on stage, people thought she was a plant in the audience. Just when you think you’ve known someone all their lives, they go and steal the show at a comedy club, which I have to admit is no small feat.

Improv 101 Class

I usually leave wondering how in the world do they come up with all that hysterical stuff on the spot. If you weren’t born with the gift of improvisational comic talent and want to learn how to be funny on the spot, you can attend an “Improv 101” class at the theater on Thursdays. These six week courses will focus on all the basics you’ll need to be a scene steal-er, too. If you just want a bit of a refresher course, you can attend “Improv 000”, an open practice class for anyone.

Once you have mastered those skills and want to give them a test run, you can drop in on one of the two weekend open mike improv shows.

Improv All Stars

Saturday nights, the Improv All Stars take the stage and the 7:30 show is family friendly. At just $10 a ticket, this is an awesome family date night option. Just remember, don’t go volunteering anyone.

We can’t wait to see you at Mom Comedy Night on July 27th at 7:30 pm!

Have you ever been called up on the stage at Alchemy Comedy? Did you steal the show?
