Event Details

Your costume deserves more than one night — so let it rise again for Paddle of the Living Dead, Saluda Lake Landing’s post-Halloween twilight paddle and costume party happening November 1st & 2nd from 6–8 PM.

As the sun sets and the sky glows, kayaks and paddleboards will drift across the water lit with neon, LED kits, glow sticks, and spooky creativity. Whether you show up as a zombie, witch, mermaid, pirate, clown, superhero, or something wildly unexpected, this night paddle transforms Saluda Lake into a floating costume parade under the fading light.

🛶 Choose your way to float:

  • Admission is FREE for all participants.

  • BYO kayak/paddleboard — just bring a required light source and life jacket.

  • Rentals available for an additional cost, including a 2-hour rental LED light kit (limited — reserve early).

📸 Pre-paddle check-in starts at 5:30 PM, with time for costume adjustments, gear setup, and photos at our themed backdrop.

🌕 At 6 PM, the undead paddle fleet launches together for a relaxed, open paddle on the lake until approximately 7:45 PM.

🥇 Once you return, gather at the dockside café area for the costume contest, laughs, prizes, and chill night vibes.

🏆 Costume Contest Categories:

  • Best Overall

  • Spookiest

  • Best Glow-Up (lights & decor)

  • Best Duo/Group

  • Best Pet Costume (if your furry friend floats too)

🍔 After the paddle, stick around for themed food and drink specials available for purchase, music, and time to hang out with other paddlers as the lake settles into night.

What to Know:

  • Life jackets (PFDs) are required for all paddlers.

  • Costumes should be lake-safe (no long trailing pieces that could snag or restrict movement).

  • BYO paddlers must bring their own lighting (headlamps, glow lights, etc.).

  • Pets are welcome on board if they are comfortable on water and have a life vest.

✨ Whether you’re here to compete, float and glow, or simply enjoy the post-Halloween magic, this night is all about creativity, community, and making memories on the water before the season winds down.

Reserve your rental, grab your costume, and get ready to paddle with the undead.

Are you brave enough to join the fleet when the lake comes alive? 💀🌊
