The YMCA of Greenville offers classes and activities for children throughout the year at locations in downtown Greenville, Taylors, Simpsonville, West Greenville, and Travelers Rest. Classes and sports leagues are available to members and non-members.

YMCA of Greenville Youth Programs Offered:

Basketball: Did you know that basketball was invented at the YMCA? The love for basketball remains at the Y where each player is met at their skill level. Children ages 4–14 can sign up for summer and winter basketball leagues or try it out for a week in one of our Summer Day Camps. (Ages 4–14)

Soccer: Soccer’s simple rules are a great way to introduce children to sports. The YMCA of Greenville offers spring and fall soccer leagues or kids can try it out for a week in one of our Summer Day Camps. (Ages 3–14)

Swim: The YMCA of Greenville offers swim lessons for anyone six months or older. Classes are progressive and build off each individual’s skills and are available throughout the day. For more advanced swimmers, the YMCA has Swim Academy, a specialized program that teaches the basics of swim team and competitive swimming. (Ages 6 months and up)

T-Ball: The YMCA of Greenville’s T-ball program is designed to be a developmental league for the youngest players. Children ages 3–7 will learn the necessary skills they need to master before moving on to play coach’s pitch, travel baseball, or travel softball. (Ages 3–7)

Cross Country: Participants will build confidence and endurance each time they complete the running trail. (Ages 5–14 | Prisma Health Family YMCA, Simpsonville only)

Flag Football: Spring and Fall Flag Football is open to children ages 4–14. Participants learn football fundamentals such as footwork, ball control, passing, and teamwork. The Y also offers an all-girls Flag Football option! (Ages 4–14)

Volleyball: Did you know that volleyball was also invented at the YMCA? This popular indoor sport is offered twice a year at select branches. Kids can also try it out for a week in one of our Summer Day Camps. (Ages 8–16)

Dance: Seasonal dance classes are offered at the Prisma Health Family YMCA in Simpsonville and throughout the year via Carolina Dance Collaborative at several other YMCA of Greenville locations.

Adventure Guides and Trailblazers: Parent/child pairs are grouped into circles with others in their surrounding community. Circles meet on their own for different events and activities, and the program as a whole offers events open to all circles throughout the season — including two weekend camps at YMCA Camp Greenville, a Pinewood Derby race, a chili cook-off, and a father-daughter semi-formal Valentine’s Dance.

Both of my daughters have learned to swim thanks to the YMCA. The instructors are attentive and the class sizes weren’t too big, so they were always in the water moving their bodies. The Stroke Development swim classes really helped my oldest get ready for swim team this summer. We have also done soccer when our oldest was 3 and 4 and the coaches were helpful and pushed the kids just enough to help them learn, while also making it fun.

Yellowbobbypins Art Camp, where creativity knows no bounds and kids can’t wait to get their hands messy! Goldfish Swim School in Greenville was created by parents, for parents, with the goal of helping kids build essential swim skills to keep them safer in and around the water. Their proven, confidence-building curriculum was developed by a 17-time Collegiate All-American swimmer with a degree in Early Childhood Development.

Small class sizes, weekly feedback, quarterly progress reports, and free make-up lessons ensure every child gets the attention they deserve and a platform to build life skills that help them make waves in life!

Master Kim’s World Class Tae Kwon Do has proudly served the Greenville community since 2001. The Art Cart SC is a community-centered mobile arts business bringing the joy of art right to your doorstep; making creativity accessible, meaningful, and fun for children and families across Upstate South Carolina.

St. Matthew UMC Preschool is an outreach ministry of the church that serves the community. It provides a safe, happy, structured program in a Christian environment. We encourage children to grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. St Matthew UMC Preschool is a place where children learn to work and play with others, develop skills at individual rates of growth, and express ideas through the many different activities.

Eligibility: Our preschool program is for children ages 2K, 3K, or 4K (child must be program age by September 1).
Hours: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

We also offer a late-stay program for one additional hour. Your child may stay until 1:00 pm every day or occasionally. S4 Summer Camp is an organized, high-energy camp experience for rising 1st–5th graders designed to keep kids active, engaged, and confident all summer.

At S4, every camper joins a team for the week — Red Team, Blue Team, Green Team, or Yellow Team. Teams compete in structured camp games, challenges, and competitions while earning points toward the S4 Championship Trophy.

Each day follows a clear plan designed to keep energy high and every camper involved. Kids play classic camp games like Capture the Flag, Tag, Jump Test, and many other S4 favorites while building friendships and team pride.

What makes The S4 Experience different is our focus on organization, positive competition, and coaches who stay fully engaged with every camper. Every child is seen, encouraged, and included.

Campers enjoy a mix of indoor and outdoor activities so they can stay active while also having time to cool off in our air-conditioned facility.

Camps run Monday–Friday throughout June and into July, and families can register for one week or multiple weeks.

Riverside Tennis Club’s summer camps offer skill-leveled instruction for juniors ages 4-17, from first-time players to competitive tournament athletes. Younger juniors build coordination, movement, and balance while learning the fundamentals of forehand, backhand, and serve. Intermediate and advanced players take their game further with groundstrokes, volleys, overheads, and competitive match play designed to sharpen tactical skills, consistency, and sportsmanship. Our goal is simple: every player leaves with a deeper love for the game.

Camp Sessions:

• Little Tennis Camp (Ages 4-7): Hand-eye coordination, stroke introduction, and movement skills. 9-10:30 am.
• Junior Camp (Ages 7-17): All levels from beginners through advanced tournament players. Stroke development, strategy, match play, and game situations. 9 am-12 noon.

When my son was 9, a friend asked him to join him for a week of tennis camp. That one week of tennis camp in the summer of 2022 sparked a love for tennis like no other! He has since done every week of tennis camp during the summer, as well as clinics and private lessons year round. The coaches have poured into him and continued to challenge him as his skills have improved. MakeoverDay Spartanburg honors Kenny Mitchell, a local barber who passed away in 2022, by fulfilling his dream of serving the community. Kenny was born and raised in Spartanburg, SC. He was a graduate of Dorman High School. Later he moved to Atlanta, G.A., attended Barber school and fulfilled his dream of becoming a Master Barber.
Unfortunately, Kenny passed away on March 28th, 2022 from injuries sustained as a result of a vehicle accident. Kenny made a huge impact in Spartanburg and Atlanta, touching many lives throughout the communities.

Kenny’s mother Angel, organizes an annual event, MakeoverDay Spartanburg, that provides free professional services for the community: such as haircuts, hairstyles, massages and so much more. Free food will also be served during this event.

Angel vowed to keep his legacy alive through this community event with the hopes of it becoming bigger and better each year and through the Kenny Mitchell Magictouch Cutz Barber Foundation that provides future barber students with barber scholarships.

Model Trains Station located at the Taylors Mill, 250 Mill Street, Suite BL1250, Taylors, SC is a family-friendly destination for all ages. We have over a dozen themed train displays in our 16,000 square foot location. Voted Best in the Upstate for family fun.

There are interactive hands-on controls for most of the displays. We also have onsite train repairs and a birthday party/meeting room. Some of our train displays have their very own scavenger hunts for even more fun. There is also a kid’s friendly section of wooden trains.

Model Trains Station is a part of the non-profit 501(c)(3) Mini World of Trains family incorporated in February 2010. It is run by an all volunteer staff. Visit us at www.modeltrainsstation.com. Our hours are Wednesday through Saturday 11 am to 5 pm, and Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm.

We are a multi-generational farm that encourages connection, curiosity, and community. As we wander together on the land we foster wonder and delight in the people around us, the places we are, and the gift of the present. Through field trips, classes, parties, and summer camp – Shipshape Farm educates through fun outside.

We solve learning problems at STRIDES Tutoring. Other programs focus on homework, but our tutors improve basic reading and math skills, all one-on-one. Each child has a program tailored to the needs of that child, taught by a tutor committed to the goals of that child. These tutors meet kids in Upstate libraries, ready to encourage each child to achieve success. If you have a library nearby, we may have a tutor there.

We welcome ages 6-20 of all financial levels. Our Scholarship Fund is open for those of low income. Many of our students are bilingual or have special needs, but all need help to compete academically with their peers. Our tutors meet with students in person or online, at least twice weekly.

For twenty-one years in Upstate SC, we have established a reputation for helping struggling students rise to grade level quickly. Our students become successful doctors, attorneys, teachers, barbers, mechanics, and carpenters. A future that once looked bleak becomes a stable and rewarding life. We love solving learning problems for the citizens of the future!

Climb @ Blue Ridge has been providing some of the best indoor climbing in the upstate since 1995. Our passion is to encourage everyone to experience the sport of climbing. Our experienced staff want to create a climbing environment that is accessible and fun for beginning climbers and kids, but also challenging enough for the most experienced climbers.

Our day pass option allows you full access to the gym for the entire day, and you can rent all the gear you need from us. We also offer individual, student, and family memberships which allow you the freedom to climb at no additional cost any time the gym is open.
