YMCA of Greenville’s Homeschool PE program provides a place where children can exercise and participate in sports in an instructor-led setting. The program is designed to show participants how much fun exercise can be and is offered at YMCA Program Center in Simpsonville.

Wilderness Survival Classes specifically designed for home school students. Just for 6 to 9 year olds and 10 to 14 year olds. Each month attend a class where you learn important survival skills such as shelter building, food and water procurement, staying safe, and much more!

Early College (Dual Enrollment) at Greenville Technical College (GTC) is designed for motivated high-school-age students from Greenville County schools, charter schools, private schools, online academies, homeschool, etc., who seek academic challenges and want to get a head start on advanced academic goals.

Shipshape Farm homeschool classes are an opportunity to get outside, learn about animals and care for them (we have goats, chickens, dogs, a cat named Taffy, and a duck named Donald), play games, dig in the dirt, and just have an all-around old-fashioned good time!

If you would like your kiddo to enjoy tech free play and learning in the sunshine – Shipshape Farm is the place for you! Our classes always involve a story time, walk in the woods, and hands on project. Sometimes we work in the garden, sometimes we learn about critters! (The spring session will be all about chickens as the baby chicks grow!)

Homeschool classes are 2 hours long, once a week in the afternoon. We have 6-week and 3-week long sessions. (We also have Farm School classes for preschool.)

Through our classes and camps, we seek to encourage curiosity, community, and creativity within the farm landscape.
Our facilities are also available to rent for gatherings and birthday parties, where we would love to help turn your moments into memories.

EspritGVL is a co-op that meets in the North Greenville area on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Classes are offered to 1st through 12th-grade students. The co-op is a drop-off co-op with some volunteer requirements. A wide spectrum of classes are offered as well as park days, meetups, field trips, and support.

The Willis Road, Thomas E. Hannah, and Middle Tyger YMCA campuses offer homeschool PE, which includes an hour of structured gym time and an hour of pool time.

An oversight committee dedicated to ensuring homeschooled children are meeting their grade-level standards. Standards for each grade level can be found on their website, including a breakdown of various subjects.

Offers various grade level field trip programs in all major fields of science.

Schedule a live planetarium presentation via Zoom with the Earth and Space Science Center Hudnall Planetarium on topics such as constellations/night sky, sun-earth-moon system, moon phases, planets and the solar system, geology and more.

Presentations are available for classes, groups or homeschool families.

Presentations are 30-45 minutes.

A range of dance classes are offered throughout the year and include ballet, musical theater, and a ballet/tap combo class.

Offer group lessons for ages 6 and up and their family members based on skill level.
Snowboarding ages are 7 – 18 years old.
Homeschool days are typically held several days in December, January, February, and March. with discounted snowboarding or skiing tickets and equipment rental.

Offers private lessons and small group workshops for students wanting to learn to work with clay.

Ignite Learning Center offers unique hands-on activities and programs for students exploring STEAM. Programs include problem-solving challenges, engineering, arts and more.

Paris Mountain offers group hikes and educational programs about nature and the history of Paris Mountain State Park.

• Families can enjoy Creek Ranger Hikes in addition to other educational events.

ReCraft GVL is a creative reuse center for all things that can be used for crafting!
The center offers reuse retail, a Makerspace to make crafts, a donation station, special events, and special programs.
ReCraft works to repurpose and upcycle reusable materials by diverting these materials that would ultimately end up in landfills back into the retail environment in a creative way.

1 hour gymnastics classes are offered to homeschool students ages 6 – 18 years old. They offer two locations, one on Miller Road and one in Mauldin.

Offers hands-on educational programs for homeschoolers of all ages.

• Homeschool Day Winter (February), Spring (April), and Fall (September).
• Event costs cover admission to the park, supplies, and all programs and activities. Check the website for costs and registration info.

Tours and group reservations are currently limited in number, so please contact the farm before submitting a form to visit.
Carl Sandburg Home also offer online virtual lessons. These are not live presentations, but rather virtual lesson plans. Students can learn about the Sandburg family and the significance of Carl Sandburg’s writing. Here are the virtual lesson plans.

This historic estate of poet Carl Sandburg in nearby Flat Rock, NC offers a 1-2 hour educational tour for groups that include writing activities, house tour, and farm visits.

• Homeschool trips are also available.

This homeschool association provides proof of membership documents, assistance with high school transcripts, and, while standardized testing is not required, they provide assistance finding sites where homeschoolers can participate if desired.

Internet-based option 3 accountability association. Enrollment fee is $30 per family. The association can help with resources, member discounts, and questions about homeschooling or transitioning from public to homeschooling.

Co-op using the ALC education model through self-guided, nature-based learning.
They also offer a 2-day micro-school for ages 5 – 13 from 9:30 to 1 pm.

Provides guidelines, resources, and laws about the three homeschool options in South Carolina.

In addition to being an accountability group, Carolina Homeschooler offers field trips, online classes, book clubs, and online parent support forums. Their page offers helpful information about legally homeschooling in South Carolina.

Hollowed Earth Pottery, located in Hampton Station, offers classes during the day for kids in hand building and in using the pottery wheel.

Nature and farm based microschool utilizing the Reggio Emilia approach to learning.
The co-op teaches homesteading skills in addition to math, science, language arts, and history.

1 -3 day option for K-6th grade.

Option 3 homeschool accountability association with over 20 years of experience. Membership provides dozens of resources, free printable forms, free lesson plans, and more.

This christ centered co-op group meets at Grace Church’s Taylor’s campus in Greenville (6th – 12th grade), Hampton Heights Baptist Church in Taylors (K3-5th grade), and Spartanburg campus at Church at the Mill in Moore (Elementary – High School).

Classes are offered to elementary through high school students. Parents may drop- off children, but there is a volunteer requirement. Nursery is available.

Offers monthly homeschool art classes for ages 5-12. Classes begin in September.
Located near Welcome Elementary off of White Horse Road, Greenville

WNC Nature Center currently offers self-guided tours for school groups (registration required), as well as virtual small group programs, virtual auditorium programs, and recorded programs on various topics that include a live animal guest.

View 60 species of native animals at the WNC Nature Center! Programs are available for groups as small as 10.

Offers:  This co-op meets at New Image Church in Easley on Mondays. They offer a variety of academic and enrichment classes with a Judeo/Christian emphasis.
Parents must remain on-site with their children and participate in the classroom and fulfill other roles.

They also offer homeschool support groups for parents and children.

Located at Converse College in Spartanburg, this academy offers many music and dance opportunities, including group lessons, private lessons and full ensemble opportunities throughout the school year, as well as summer camp.

Co-op meeting in Travelers Rest once per week for ages nursery – 7th grade.

An interview process is required to ensure children blend well with the co-op.

3rd option homeschool accountability association for preK- 12th grade.
They offer homeschool support to families in a variety of ways, including supply obtainment, an online store, resources, seminars, and more.

Facebook group for Upstate SC moms who homeschool their children.

Originally based in South Carolina, this group offers fun adventures for homeschool families around the United States (a spin-off of Carolina Homeschooler).

Lucky Acres Farm is a small family farm in Townville, SC featuring alpacas. Learn about alpacas and how the farm is run, including what products the alpaca fibers are used to create.

These groups offer an ensemble opportunity for student musicians both homeschooled and traditionally schooled. Auditions are required.

This National Park offers field trip experiences. A range of curriculum materials are also available on the Cowpens National Battlefield web site, as part of the Parks as Classrooms initiative.

A Facebook support and resource group for homeschooling families in Upstate, SC. The group discusses events, planning, and resource sharing.

This piano studio offers private and group music lessons in piano, guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele.

Homeschool groups can book a field trip full of learning, engagement, and play–at both museum locations in Greenville and Spartanburg.  TCMU-Spartanburg field trips are available for kids grades 3K, 4K and 5K and TCMU-Greenville field trips are available for kids grades K4-Grade 5. Children can explore museum exhibits and participate in additional STEAM based programming led by TCMU staff and educators.

Eden farms offers English riding lessons for ages 6 through adult with private or group lesson options. They also offer birthdays, field trips, summer camps and more.

Homeschool at the Barn- Includes an hour long riding lesson or trail ride, learning about life on a working horse farm (grooming, saddling, equine anatomy, feeding and more), horse themed crafts, bible study, snack, and time to play on the new playground.

Field Trips: Eden Farms has offered educational field trips for all ages and sizes including church groups, Scout troops, and schools. Groups rotate through their 40-stall barn to different hands-on horse stations to learn about grooming, saddling, healthcare, horse breeds, feeding, healthcare, and more! Studio Green is a music studio located in Spartanburg, SC that provides lessons for musical instruments and choir. Hours are by appointment only.
They also offer a Homeschool Choir for ages K5-12th grade and Homeschool Piano that meets weekly.

The UCHU (United Community of Homeschoolers Unlimited) is an option 3 homeschool association.

They offer virtual classes in instrumentals, reading, mindfulness and yoga, drawing, high school courses, and more.

Offers: Offers classes in German as a foreign language and as a heritage language. Ages 5 and up. Locations are at Simpsonville’s Holland Park Church and Spartanburg Day School.
They also offer a homeschool program for 4th-6th grade that meets on Thursday for 1.5 hours.

PE classes give homeschoolers the opportunity to play organized games and sports, make friends, and stay active. Weekly class meets in Boiling Springs and Greer.

Book a multi-day field trip through their Adventure Guides program, Family Camp program, and other programs that allow children to learn about nature while learning how to work together as a group.

Homeschool: Museum and Gallery at Bob Jones University host Homeschool Days monthly for students ages 5-14 years old. Classes are at 10 am and 2 pm. Parents may check their child in and leave or stay for a discounted lesson. Classes are held in the Mack Building on the campus of Bob Jones University.

Field Trips: Tours are available for K-12 classes of selected collections on display on the campus of Bob Jones University including: a closer look at American artist Benjamin West during the Revolutionary War and experiencing ancient Egyptian, Roman, and Hebrew cultures as far back as 3200 BC! Museum on the Move brings museum learning to your K-12 classroom by integrating art with the core subject areas and meeting SC state and national standards.

Offers homeschool climbing every second Monday from 2 pm to 4 pm.

Offers a weekly 30-45 minute soccer skills lesson. Classes meet once per week for 4 weeks.
Meets at Long Creek Plantation neighborhood in Simpsonville.

S.T.A.R.S. stands for Scholastically Talented, Academically Responsible Students. It is a Christian-based academic co-op in Spartanburg.
Classes meet once per week from 9 am to 1 pm, nursery – High School level.

Interactive classes in art, music, PE, and swim are offered each semester to homeschoolers ages 6 – 12.

Crestview Christian Homeschool Academy offers full day to à la carte academic & enrichment classes on Thursdays.  Classes are for students in Elementary – High school. The group meets at Riverside Baptist. Parents may drop off children or stay and be a part of the community.

Big Air Spartanburg’s Homeschool Jump is offered when local schools are in session. On Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1-3 pm, you can jump for $15 ( $12 if proof of homeschool provided). Don’t forget your Big Air grip socks!

Lake Conestee Nature Preserve offers a wide variety of science and nature field trips and programs.

The Simpsonville Recreation Department offers year-round youth sports teams.
Teams are available for ages K3 and up depending on the sport.
Play venues are located throughout Greenville County, including Simpsonville, Greer, Fountain Inn, Mauldin, and Greenville.

This association offers membership documentation, assistance with accountability and record keeping and a graduation ceremony with diploma.

There are several paths to legally homeschooling in the state. Families who choose to homeschool through the school district as their means of legally homeschooling can find information from the district at this site.

This group on Facebook facilitates the planning of homeschool field trips for families in the Oconee, Pickens, Anderson and Greenville areas and shares information and opportunities for area homeschoolers.

A 3rd Option homeschool accountability association that covers the entire state of SC. They offer in-person consultations and walk side-by-side with all families who are interested in homeschooling, even if they are not a member of the association.

This parent led co-op meets on Fridays at Clear Springs Baptist Church in Simpsonville. They offer a full day of academic and enrichment class options for K-12 and offer a nursery program.

An athletic organization for homeschool students, offering 11 different competitive sports including archery, baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, fishing, and volleyball. They meet at multiple locations throughout the upstate.

The South Carolina State Museum offers free admission for homeschoolers to explore its 4 floors of Carolina history, art, natural history, and science.
Homeschoolers receive discounted admission for planetarium shows and 4D theater films.

At the Sigal Music Museum, explore the exciting world of music through exhibitions, concerts, and music classes for both children & adults.

Horse Birthday Parties! Sassy Stables Farm is a beautiful boutique farm with mountain views for pony ride parties and lessons. The farm also has farm animal petting and feeding, bounce house rentals, and magical unicorn appearances!

Offers nature-based educational classes in math, literature, project learning, geography, and additional homeschool support.

Classes are typically once per week in a given subject.

Guided plant tours are available and students will have the chance to see how the cars are built.

In-studio and virtual homeschool classes are available for elementary and middle school students. Topics include poetry, math, topography and more all in a hands on maker environment. Read class descriptions and register on-line.

This gym offers gymnastics classes for homeschool students ages 6 and up. They are offered one day a week when the gym is less crowded. Additional days a week are available and classes run year round.

Offers martial arts classes for ages 4 through teen.

Christ centered homeschool enrichment program for grades 1 – 8.
Program meets weekly at Palmetto Proper in downtown Travelers Rest, SC.

This gym in Greer offers gymnastics and tumbling classes for homeschool students age 3 to 16 years old.

Though this is a complete school for students who are not homeschooled, 9th through 12th-grade homeschoolers are welcome to enroll to take individual classes through Greenville Classical Academy’s upper school university model classes. Homeschoolers also have the opportunity to join an athletic team.

Monthly homeschool classes. Grade levels may fluctuate based on the exhibit. Topics vary from month to month. Registration is online only. Classes meet on the third Friday of each month at 1:3o pm.

Additionally, the Upcountry History Museum offers tours for school-age children that immerse the kids in a period of history through exhibits, discussion, and hands-on activities.

Kids Play & Cafe offers Homeschool Hangout on Thursday afternoons from 1 pm – 3 pm.

Personal snacks and lunches are allowed to be brought in, and access to the party room will offered for those needing to finish up work.

Spartanburg County Historical Association offers tours and living history activities at several historic sites one Friday per month.

The Biltmore offers group tours for homeschool and school groups, as well as educational programming in their barn.

In-home chess lessons, taught by chess tutors through storytelling. Lessons are available for ages 3 and older.

A group that meets once per week at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Greer.

Pecknel Music is a music school that offers music lessons in multiple instruments, instrument rentals, instrument repairs, and everything music!
Music lessons can be individual instruction or group instruction.

The Greenville County Library System offers a large variety of virtual and in-person programs for babies, preschoolers, children, and adults! Some programs include take-home kits that can be requested online. Topics include history, art, and science.

The Greenville Library offers field trips including story times, a look-and-find tour, reference tours, and more.

French courses: children are grouped based on French-language skill level.
Ages: 1st grade through 5th grade, 1.5 hour sessions, twice per week

French Club: Saturdays, once per month for 10 months from 9 am – 12 pm.
Two age groups are offered, 6-8 years old and 9-12 years old.

Children will enjoy activities, games, workshops, and more with instructor Claire Rouvery.

Offers a christ centered co-op for K4-12th grade in a variety of subjects. They offer classes in academics, sports, arts, and more.
Classes meet at the Eastside Worship Center.

This third option homeschool association serving upstate families, provides membership documentation, GPA, class ranking and transcripts. In addition, this association requires its high school students to take standardized testings (ACT/SAT).
