Get ready for a brand-new Halloween event in Anderson!
Saturday, October 24 | 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
The first-ever Electric City Food Truck Festival and Halloween Fun Run, presented by Edifice Construction, is bringing together costumes, community, food and plenty of family-friendly fun.
The festivities begin at the Anderson Recreation Center with a one-mile Halloween Fun Run celebrating the opening of the City’s new community trail. Before participants take off, a special ribbon cutting will officially open the trail and send runners and walkers toward Linley Park and the Electric City Food Truck Festival, hosted by 110 North Kitchen + Commissary.
And this is a FUN run in every sense of the word. There’s no timing, no pressure and no need to chase a personal record. Run, walk, push a stroller, bring the kids and, of course, dress up for Halloween! There is just one reason to pick up the pace: the first participants to arrive at the festival get first in line for the food trucks.
Registration is required for the Fun Run and is $5 per participant, plus a $1.30 sign up fee. Every registered participant will receive an official event T-shirt, and costumes are strongly encouraged.
Once you cross the finish line, stick around and make an afternoon of it at Linley Park. Enjoy local food trucks, live music and kids’ activities. The food truck festival and all post-race activities are free and open to everyone.

Join in at Oconee State Park for a spook-tacular Halloween evening filled with candy, games, and fall magic!
Kids 13 and under can wander through the campground loops and trick-or-treat at creatively decorated campsites, soaking in the sights, sounds, and spirit of the season. Before the candy hunt begins, head to the barn for action-packed games and giant inflatables from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., or take a hay ride and enjoy the crisp autumn air during the same hours. As the sun sets, the campground transforms into a festive trick-or-treat trail from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Costumes are highly encouraged, and the fun is guaranteed!

Tips for Visiting Pumpkin Patches Near Greenville, SC
Is there anything cuter than small children trudging through a pumpkin patch? Here are a few tips to help your family enjoy the day.
Watch for fire ant hills and other biting insects, especially if it's wet. Something about those fields seems to attract those pesky critters.
Remind children to pick up pumpkins from the bottom and not the stem. It's easier to carve with a good stem still attached and cracked or smashed fallen pumpkins really aren't very much fun.
Bring plenty of water, especially if you're going to farm and plan to stay awhile. Fall in Greenville is often still pretty hot, and hunting for that perfect pumpkin might take a while.
Consider bringing a picnic. Lots of the farms listed have picnic facilities and that gives you a chance to relax and enjoy the day a bit longer.

It’s so much fun to pack a lunch, take the kids, and enjoy the fresh, cool air while picking your favorite apples and dreaming up delectable things to make with them: Apple pie, apple crumble, apple bread and muffins, dried apples, apple cider, applesauce, apples and peanut butter; the list just goes on.

There are many wonderful apple orchards in the Upstate area where you can pick your own apples. We’ve expanded this list to places that are under two hours from Greenville. Most are about an hour away, though.

Looking for something different? Make the rounds and visit several orchards while sampling apple cider donuts on our Apple Cider Donut Tour. We can’t think of a more perfect and delicious fall day.
Dog-friendly picks: Grandad’s, Justus, Sky Top, Stepp’s, Windy Hill, and Chattooga Belle all allow leashed dogs in at least some areas.
Best bet for a bakery visit: Grandad’s Apples, Justus Orchard, and Sky Top Orchard all offer fresh apple cider donuts and other bakery treats on-site, with Jeter Mountain Farm and Windy Hill Orchard great options if you’re up for a slightly longer drive. (Or take our apple cider donut tour so you can visit more than one!)
Reservation spots: Jeter Mountain and Windy Hill require reservations for u-pick, which helps keep the orchard a little more coordinated. Sky Top is recommending reservations but it’s not required. It also helps you choose a time to pick the variety of apple you want based on what is ready or not.
Farthest but worth the drive:Apple Hill Orchard (Morganton, NC) is the furthest orchard on our list at ~2 hours, or Windy Hill if you love ciders and want to check out York County.
