Old Europe Has Arrived

Ready for a new pastry and coffee shop? Old Europe has arrived in Greenville! Serving delicious coffee, pastries, desserts and breakfast options Old Europe brings some tasty new options to Greenville’s West End. We think you’ll want to give them a try!

Fans of Asheville, NC may recognize the Old Europe name. The popular coffee and pastry shop opened in Asheville in 1994 and they carried quite a Greenville following. Planning a day trip in Asheville means a stop at Old Europe for me. And I know I’m not the only one. While Greenville’s Old Europe is under different ownership, staff originally from Asheville’s store are now running the Greenville location.

Old Europe Coffee and Pastries

You’ll find fantastic coffee and a wide variety of pastries at Old Europe. My kids and I visited during the soft opening of the shop, so the selection was limited compared to what they will be offering as they become fully operational. But, honestly, there were plenty of delicious options. My daughter stood by the case for at least 5 minutes before she could decide what she wanted! We enjoyed coconut macaroons and rigo jancsi, the later of which I never knew existed. But the velvety smooth Hungarian chocolate moose layered over a spongy chocolate cake was every bit as good as it looked. Probably better than it looked. I almost went with one of the cheesecakes, which I’m sure would have been equally amazing, but I’m really happy I went with the Rigo Jancsi. It sure did go well with that coffee.

Breakfast, Mid-day Treat or Late Night Snack

Old Europe is now open starting at 7 am with a selection of breakfast pastries. Sunday through Thursday they close at 11 pm and Friday and Saturday they are open until midnight. There are not a lot of dessert spots in Greenville with late evening hours and I am super thrilled for this new option! I am really looking forward to stopping by for dessert with my husband after dinner or a show at the Peace Center.

My kids were not into the sitting at the table and having a long conversation over coffee and dessert thing that I might of enjoyed had I stopped at Old Europe with my husband. So after I finished my treat and coffee, we headed just a few blocks down Main Street to Falls Park. They finished their macaroons while watching the ducks at the falls, which was more their speed.

We’re really looking forward to another visit as the shop fully opens and offers their full menu to Greenville!
