KAG: Why is working with Greenville families so rewarding?
SCH: Not every community has the wealth of resources right in their own backyard as Greenville families find at Shriners Children’s Greenville; however, our reach goes far beyond the upstate. Last year alone, children from over 30 states as well as many foreign countries found life-changing care offered within our walls.

KAG: What makes Shriners Children’s Greenville stand out?
SCH: It is rare for your radiologist, physical therapist, motion analysis director and physician to be within steps of the other to personally consult regarding an individual patient’s case – but that’s exactly what we are able to achieve because all of our services are located under a single roof. Also, for our injury care patients, appointments are available within 48 hours. That’s not typical, nor is the expertise in treating childhood injuries we offer.

KAG: What advice do you have for families just starting their Shriners Children’s Greenville journey?
SCH: You’ve found your home. You’re with family. The bonds we build with our patients and their families is an important part of the holistic care we provide. Especially if your child is diagnosed with a condition that requires ongoing treatment, your daughter or son will have the opportunity to meet others who can truly understand their specific challenges; meanwhile, other moms and dads who perhaps are one step ahead are able to offer newer parents thoughtful perspectives.
