If you’re looking for a local bakery with heart, Sissy’s Sweets is a must-visit. This Upstate favorite serves delicious desserts while staying true to a mission rooted in sisterhood and inclusivity.
Founder Miranda Gilbert created Sissy’s Sweets in honor of Erika, her differently-abled sister whose love of sweet treats inspired the bakery’s beginnings. Today, the shop creates a welcoming space and employs differently-abled individuals from the community.
And the treats are definitely worth a visit (or several)!
What to Order
Offering everything from cakes, cookies, and breakfast treats, Sissy’s Sweets has something for everyone. A few customer favorites stand out.
Rich, soft, and perfectly sweet, the Ooey Gooey Bars are a must for first-time visitors. Try them all. There’s Oreo, Reece’s, Lemon, Strawberry, Cookie Butter, and Salted Caramel.
The scratch-made “poptarts” are another fan favorite. They’re buttery, generously filled with strawberry or blueberry filling, and quick to sell out. Other breakfast treats include danishes, cinnamon rolls, muffins, croissants, and Nutella twists, a Sissy’s Sweets’ classic.
If you’re planning a celebration, Sissy’s Sweets creates custom cakes for birthdays, showers, and other special occasions.
