Friday nights are for space exploration at Roper Mountain Science Center. Friday Starry Nights invite families to relax under the stars inside the planetarium and enjoy immersive astronomy shows that change throughout the evening. It’s an easy, engaging way to spark curiosity about the night sky, whether it’s your first visit or a returning favorite. On clear nights, be sure to head over after your show to the Charles E. Daniel Observatory refractor to see through the telescope!

Electric Kids is a hands-on kids’ program at the Anderson County Museum.

Team up as a family for a football-inspired STEAM adventure led by Challenge Island. You’ll design, build and put your quarterback skills to the test in a hands-on workshop.

Work on a character, a scene, or start a new project during National Novel Writing Month. For teens ages 12-18 or grades 7-12 only.

Take a break and enjoy some puppy love! Meet and interact with certified therapy dogs and their handlers during Therapy Dog Time in the Dream Theater.

Docents are on hand in front of select exhibits to share fun facts about our leopards and answer your questions. Two sessions run this day: 10:30 am and 12:30 pm. Some animals may change due to weather.

Travel to ancient Egypt to see how science was used to tell time, make a workable calendar, and align huge buildings. You’ll learn about the connection the ancient Egyptians felt with the stars and various astronomical phenomena and see some of the most spectacular temples and tombs of the ancient world recreated in their original splendor. Produced by E&S Digital Theater. Doors close promptly at 11:00 a.m. If you need to leave for any reason, you are welcome to do so, but you will not be able to reenter the theater until the show is finished. Food and drinks are not allowed. Electronic devices should be set to silent. Target audience 9-adult. Loud sounds and bright, flashing lights may affect some audience members. Registration opens two weeks before the show and is required for this free show. The entire presentation runs 45-50 minutes. Closed captioning will be provided for this show. Registration may be required.

Fly to the skies and create the next page of your “Legendary Creature Field Guide.” This program is best suited for ages 6-12.

Enjoy hot chocolate and play a variety of board games like Werewords, Hues and Clues, and Sorry. For teens ages 12-18 or grades 7-12 only.

Play both classic and different patterns of bingo to win prizes. Program presented by Bella, our Teen Intern. For teens ages 12-18 or in grades 7-12 only.

On select school-holiday days, TCMU runs Kid’s Day Out from 9 am to 4 pm with team games, museum exploration, snack time and more, all play-based fun for kids.

The Children’s Museum of the Upstate offers Kid’s Day Out, a drop-off day camp during select school holidays. Kids in grades K-5 enjoy play-based team games, museum exploration and exclusive STEAM Lab access. Registration is required and space is extremely limited; drop-off is 8:45-9:00 a.m. and pick-up is 3:45-4:00 p.m.

Mom and Dad don’t get a break even though school does? Come play at South Carolina Children’s Theatre! This Workday Workshop is full of games and activities exploring group problem solving, character development and performing in front of an audience, and may include craft time.
