Camp Griffin brings the spirit of Spartanburg Day School to life each summer through immersive, hands-on experiences designed for campers ages 2 through rising 9th grade. Open to families across the Upstate, Camp Griffin offers nine weeks of dynamic programming that encourages campers to explore new interests, create boldly and expand their thinking through meaningful, real-world experiences.

Led by SDS instructors and coaches, each camp is built around the philosophy of Learning Lived, helping children grow in curiosity, confidence and skill while having an unforgettable summer.

Take flight this summer at Triple Tree Aerodrome in Woodruff, SC with ACE Summer Camps! This immersive 4-day aviation experience includes hands-on seminars, ground school lessons, aviation activities, and workshops on basic restoration skills. The highlight? A flight opportunity in one of the Triple Tree Aircraft!

Camps are divided into Radio Control Camps (for rising middle schoolers) and General Aviation Camps (for rising high schoolers), ensuring age-appropriate learning and engagement. With small class sizes capped at eight participants, each camper receives personalized instruction from certified teachers and aviation professionals.

This all-day camp focuses on art, music, theatre skills, creative writing and dance. Each themed session ends with a Family Day Program. For ages 3 – 7th grade.

Shared Worlds is a unique writing camp for rising 8th-12th graders who enjoy writing fantasy and science fiction.
Students get the opportunity to work with professional writers and bestselling authors.

SC School for the Deaf and Blind has a free one-week summer camp for any child between the ages of 6-14 with visual or hearing impairment in the state of South Carolina. There are both a day camp option and a residential option.

Offers: Drama and theatre camps for youth and teens.

ELC offers summer camps for children 3 months old – 2nd grade. The camps run from 9am-12pm Monday-Thursday.

Offers: Sports camps through USC Upstate for children starting at age 6.

Trapped in the Upstate offers an immersive blend of entertainment and challenge from two convenient locations in Greer and Spartanburg, each with several escape rooms available to book. These escape rooms are intricately themed to create an experience of intrigue and excitement, perfect for adventure seekers and puzzle enthusiasts.

This weekly summer camp for students from K – 8th grade Monday-Friday offers martial arts lessons. In addition, Kickin’ Kids take daily field trips, play games, and practice sports.

Camp Love-a-Pet is held at the Spartanburg Humane Society and teaches campers about basic dog obedience, responsible pet care, and issues impacting animal welfare.

A two-week intensive Mandarin language and culture camp at Wofford. This camp program is free; however, you must apply and be accepted into the competitive program. They only accept 45 of the many 6th-12th grade applicants. See their webpage for more details and to apply.

The Girls Scouts of South Carolina- Mountains to Midlands offers programs to girls scouts of all abilities and backgrounds.

They offer special events, camps, cookie sales, and so much more! Upstate, SC troops are available for ages Kindergarten and up.

Southern Martial Arts offers weekly rates which include field trips and martial arts classes. Care is full day.

STEM Day Camp is for incoming 9th – 12th grade students.
All activities will challenge students to apply STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) topics to real-world situations.
Activities may include rocket launching, drone aerodynamics, programming rovers, engineering with dominoes, 3D printing, crime scene analysis, and analyzing chemical reactions.

The Spartanburg Science Center is a downtown museum with live animal exhibits, an extensive collection of fossils, bones, rocks and minerals, and engaging children’s activities like engineering challenges. With only $5 admission and Free Family Saturdays once a month, put this place on your list to encourage a love of science in your children!

Birthday Parties: Stare at the stars. Play with robots. Create chemical reactions. Spartanburg Science Center adds intrigue to any birthday party! Whether you’re a kid in age or in your spirit of wonder, celebrate with the Spartanburg Science Center for an extra element of surprise and excitement.

Field Trips: Offers standards-based, hands-on science education for groups aged Kindergarten – 8th Grade. Programs can be held at the Science Center, they can come to you, or you can work with them to arrange field trips to natural habitats.
