Gift Guide for New Moms

GKatie is an expert on what new moms need, running a business that provides those needs: Poppy Consultants. Today, she is giving us what her list is of 7 gift ideas for new moms.

Thanksgiving has passed and Cyber Monday is over, so let the holidays begin. If you are like me, you made your wish list weeks ago, but if you are not into keeping a running list just in case someone asks, allow me to help.

This is my holiday gift guide for new moms.  (I suggest you forward this to your spouse, or ask your BFF to secretly send it for you. It will not disappoint, I promise!)

Gift Idea for New Moms # 1 – Pampering Gifts

Your pregnancy and delivery alone can put stress on your body, but add in long nights walking the halls and your body is probably in need of a little TLC. There is nothing better than a great massage to give your stressed muscles a little reprieve. I love the Wild Lime Blossom Massage Package at Urban Nirvana. “This aromatic scalp and full body massage treatment is the perfect antidote for stress and fatigue.” This package is a 90 minute treatment and starts at $135.

Gift Idea #2 – Personalized Jewelry

Every new mom needs a one of a kind necklace. One with her little one’s name or initials on it that she can wear close to her heart. I just love the stamped necklaces from Motherhood Journey. “Motherhood Journey hand stamps jewelry and accessories one hammer strike at a time in Laurens, South Carolina.” Their custom made New Family Necklace ranges from $25-$40 depending on the number of discs desired.

Gift Idea #3 – Unique Way to Display Jewelry

Now that you have a beautiful new necklace, how about a beautiful way to display it! One Man’s Trash makes beautiful one of a kind jewelry holders out of antique picture frames. With their inspiration of making old things new again each piece made is unique with it’s own charm. At $35 this jewelry holder is quite the steal!

Gift Idea #4 – Personal Stylist

Now that you have put away those maternity jeans, it is probably time to freshen up your closet. Some new moms find that once they have shed the baby weight their old favorite skinny jeans just don’t fit like they used to. This is the time for a little expert advice from a Wardrobe Stylist. Melissa Stroud, Manager and Wardrobe Stylist at Augusta 20 says that she does “not dress people as a “mini-me,” but rather try’s to find colors and silhouettes that work for each individual.” Her services start at $50/hour and her bubbly personality will leave you feeling like the rock star you truly are! {Melissa Stroud tel: 803-270-1406}

I recently polled Poppy Consultants Facebook Followers on the one thing they wished they could have had when their baby was born, their answers inspired numbers 5 and 6.

Gift Idea #5 – Cooking Class

First on the list was a personal chef. But come on, let’s be realistic! I’m sure that hiring someone to cook each meal for you isn’t an option, so how about a cooking class to get you back in the mood to make a meal again. Charleston Cooks on Main Street has a multitude of interactive classes that start at $65. You can always make a date night out of it and enjoy a couples class, complete with a romantic meal at the end of your class. This interactive workshop starts at $135 per couple.

Gift Idea #6 – Support Services

Tied with a personal chef was the assistance of a Lactation Consultant whenever the need popped up. The truth of the matter for you new moms is that choosing to nurse and deciding how long you do it will be one of the hardest decisions you will make in the first year of your baby’s life. If you have chosen to do so, it doesn’t always come naturally, and in fact can be very intimidating and frustrating. Once you leave the hospital, your resources for help become difficult to attain. You can call your Lactation Consultant, visit the hospital, or attend a local support group. But what about receiving the support in the comforts of your own home? With a gift certificate from Poppy Consultants, you can do just that! No need to change out of your yoga pants or take your baby out of the home. Poppy Consultants will come to you and provide one on one coaching to overcome your most frustrating nursing problems. Packages start at $75, leaving you with a renewed sense of self confidence in the ever changing world of mommy hood.

Gift Idea #7 – Coffee!

Last but not least, to get you over those late nights and those early mornings you are going to need a great cup of joe! Spill the Beans on Main Street provides a variety of “gourmet coffee and custom blended ice cream and yogurt.” You can grab a cup of joe then take your little for a stroll along Falls Park. Spend $30 in gift cards and receive a free coffee!
