About Runway Park
One of our favorite parks in Greenville is Runway Park at Greenville Downtown Airport. This park features aviation themed playground equipment, an amphitheatre, runway walking trails, and a hanger-styled picnic shelter. With a compact layout the park is perfect for families with small children with it’s fenced in area and location right beside Runway Cafe and the Downtown Airport runway. It’s always fun to watch the kids run to the fence to watch planes land.

We also noticed that the children use the walking trails much more frequently at this park, probably because the walking trails are all located inside the fence and parents can easily watch their kids at a distance. The park does lack shade being right beside the airport. While there is one picnic shelter to use for a break from the sun, be sure to bring sunscreen, hats, and water if you plan to play during the day or consider going in the evening or during the cooler months of the year.  Recently, Runway Park opened brand new restrooms inside the fenced park!

Note: This park is still under development, many updates have recently been added including benches with shade, restrooms, and educational signage. They are also working on future projects such as possibly including an aviation-themed mini golf course and splash pad, and they are asking for donations to make these fun things happen. You can read more about the plans for Runway Park on the Greenville Downtown Airport website.

I think the main library would be a great place for a scavenger hunt!
