Our Favorite Park To Visit When Its Cold Outside

Posted on | No Comments

Are you looking for a great new park in Greenville to visit? KAG reader Desiree and owner of the popular mom group Out and About Moms of Greenville is sharing today her favorite Greenville park, Northwest Park on Whitehorse Road. P.S. It has a perk that no other park in town shares with a nearby spot just up the road that your kids will love!

Growing up in Florida, when you wanted to find a park a crucial factor was finding one with shade. Now we live in South Carolina, where the climate isn’t always hot, so I’ve found myself searching for the perfect park in Greenville to enjoy during those cooler months.  Since half of the year it’s cool outside, I enjoy visiting a park that isn’t shaded so we can soak up all the heat the sun has to offer.

In the cooler months, when feeling the sunshine is so nice, I enjoy taking my kids to Northwest Park. Many people don’t seem to know about this park – it is usually uncrowded when we visit and the facilities are very clean. There are two play structures, one that is more toddler friendly and another that is more advanced for children over the age of eight, though my three year old loves to play on it. It also has several infant swings and regular swings with some musical drums and shakers.  In my opinion, the only downside of Northwest Park is that it’s not gated.

What is at Northwest Park?

  • playground
  • fields including multiple baseball fields and a football/soccer field
  • a large picnic shelter

Where is Northwest Park?

It is located at 8109 White Horse Rd., Greenville, SC 29617 – right behind the Greenville Tech Campus.  It can be a bit tricky to find this one too – you have to turn at the sign that says “Greenville campus” and follow the road.  After you pass the building you will spot the park and playground.  Beyond the park entrance, there is a road that you can take to the baseball and football fields if you need more room to roam. Another great place we love to visit is just up the road, Riverbend Equestrian Park.  You and your little ones can stop in and visit the horses!
