It’s a Greenville tradition of 50+ years to pick up a Pepsi Party Pack! Have a little one turning 6 this year? One thing that I love about raising my family in the same city that I grew up in is the shared experiences that my kids and I have from our childhoods. The free Pepsi Party Pack is one of those special experiences that crosses both of our generations. I remember our excitement as kids when each of us received our Pepsi Party Pack at age 6. Watching my own 6-year-old experience the same excitement was double fun!
You don’t have to travel to the end of a rainbow to find a unicorn; it’s right outside of Greenville! Hidden Pasture Farm, located in Fountain Inn, SC was the perfect birthday surprise for the daughter of Nikki Hulton. Find out about this little farm and the unique unicorn experiences they offer, along with pony rides, farm animals, play space, parties and more!
The Unicorns at Hidden Pasture Farm
Having been in contact with Kate, the owner, I had booked a 2-hour “unicorn” experience in which my daughter would have one on one time with “George” the unicorn. I couldn’t wait to dress her up and bring her.
Once we arrived, we were greeted by Kate who had a wonderful story about all the unicorns at the farm and how they came to Hidden Pasture. She told us about each of their stories, where they came from, and what type of unicorns they were. George, the imperial unicorn, Sapphire, the half Pegasus unicorn who’s wings can only be seen when it rains, as well as many other “half unicorns”. We also were introduced to “Snoopy” the turkey who had more personality than most adults I have met. We started off holding a baby bunny while the unicorns were getting ready to meet our birthday girl and my son found a playground that overlooked the chickens, ponies, and riding circle.
George the Unicorn
In excited anticipation, it was time to meet the unicorn named George. He had blue eyes (as all purebred unicorns do) a glittery horn, a wreath of flowers around his neck, and a big blue bow on his tail. Kate handed him off so my daughter could walk him out to the pine tree forest and snap some photos. She also gave her a brush to brush his hair. He was a very smart unicorn and understood many commands, which made it easy for my 7-year-old to lead him around.
Pony Rides
After George, we were introduced to two more unicorns, as well as some ponies that the kids were able to ride. Having only rode a pony once before, the kids were excited to saddle up and ride around the circle. Even some of the chickens wanted in on the action and came up the steps to have a look. Kate took each kid around several times one way and then the other while the sunset in the background of the farm. It was beautiful. We still had more to see after the pony ride as we continued to tour the rest of the farm and made our way to the other unicorns, the chickens, and even the peacocks where the kids were given colorful feathers.
On our walk around the farm we found out that the farm not only does birthday parties which includes bounce houses, pony rides, and the full farm experience, but also some of the ponies are taken to nursing homes to help as emotional support pets as well. Kate made it a truly unique and wonderful experience and we cannot wait to go back and visit all the new friends we made at this magical little farm.

The City of Greenville, because they are amazing and thoughtful and wonderful, has instituted a Birthday Brigade every Friday to celebrate kids who are having birthdays but can’t have a party or go anywhere because of the coronavirus.
For more ways to celebrate birthdays with social distancing, plus a list of venues offering virtual parties, don’t miss Partying During a Pandemic!
The Birthday Brigade consists of a small parade with lights, sirens, and honking horns and happens every Friday within Greenville City limits.
Kids need to be between the ages of 2-12 and their parents can register online.
Also, the home needs to be within Greenville City limits, so, for example, a neighborhood in Simpsonville, Mauldin, Greer, or Travelers Rest won’t qualify. When you go to the website to register, you’ll be able to see if your address qualifies.
The Birthday Brigade cannot be everywhere at one time so participation is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis so sign up now to hopefully get your home on the route.
If you qualify and get on the Birthday Brigade route, you’ll be notified by email the week of the brigade. Tell your neighbors too so they can celebrate your birthday child – and not be alarmed when a parade suddenly appears on your street.
Thanks, Greenville, for this fun idea for our kids!
One of the best parts of my week is walking into Dance Without Limits for my five year-old daughter’s Twinkle Stars dance class. It is such a joy to see her genuinely happy face and bright eyes, ready to learn. She loves her teacher, Beth Bradley (also known as Miss Beth) who owns Dance Without Limits, and she loves her friends in the class. In fact, each child in my daughter’s class walks in with a grin on her face and a happy shout of greeting. It’s a delight for this mama’s heart.
Thank you to Dance Without Limits for sponsoring Kidding Around.
What Makes Dance Without Limits Unique?
My daughter has always loved to dance and told us pretty much since she could talk that’s she’s going to be a “dancer or a singer on a stage.” Two years ago I signed her up for a dance class at a different studio, and I was pretty surprised after about 6 weeks of class when she put her foot down and adamantly refused to go again. For several weeks we went and she refused to enter the classroom. She told me it wasn’t fun. I couldn’t see the class at that studio, I didn’t know what the problem was, and we stopped going. But she didn’t stop wanting to dance. When she started asking to take dance again this past summer I knew we’d have to find a different studio, somewhere she’d be comfortable, with high quality instruction, but that would still be a lot of fun. I can confidently tell you after one year of classes at Dance Without Limits, that we have found all those things.
Owner Beth Bradley started her own studio because she saw a need for a dance studio with a unique culture. Dance Without Limits operates with several key values including: Dance is for everyone, Every child has worth, Hard work is worth it, Winning isn’t everything, Family first and Let kids be kids.
Every Child Has Worth
Beth grew up in a large family, one that adopted many children with unique and special needs. So when she says “dance is for everyone” and “every child has worth” those words are seeded deeply, coming from a lifetime of experience. Beth says, “I firmly believe that every child is worth our time, talent, attention and our best, whether they will be professional dancers one day, or will quit after their first season.” You can read more about Beth and the Dance Without Limits culture of “Dance is for Everyone” in her blog post.
Let Kids be Kids
Another Dance Without Limits value that sets them apart is “Let Kids be Kids.” They are committed to age appropriate music, costumes and choreography. Dance Without Limits has also chosen not to participate in competitions. Beth notes that while there are benefits to competitions, such an environment can promote “unhealthy expectations and undue pressure to be the best.” She says, “I would rather have a studio that welcomes ALL dancers, provides them with excellent training and other performance opportunities, and allows them to just be kids.”
More Than Words
The studio culture at Dance Without Limits is everything they claim it to be. You’ll be greeted with a smile and a cheerful hello into a bright and welcoming waiting area. This is not a boring waiting area, families are served here. There are many toys, a train table and soft carpet for accompanying siblings to be entertained, making a weekly trip to the dance studio so much easier for parents with younger children in tow. Parents can watch their child’s class through a window in the waiting room so they can see the class without disrupting it. There’s also coffee and tea for the grown-ups. They really have thought of everything.
Classes and More
Dance Without Limits offers classes for children as young as 18 months. Their preschool programs include a Mommy and Me class for kids 18 to 24 months, as well as ballet and tap combination classes for kids up to 5 years-old, divided by age. These classes are Twinkle Babies for kids 2-3 years-old and another for kids 3-4 years old and then a Twinkle Stars class for kids 4-5 years old. Their preschool acro program is called Tumble Bugs and there is one for children ages 2 -3 and another for ages 4 -5. The school age program includes various ballet, tap, lyrical, acrobatics and hip hop classes. Dance Without Limits offers a specific Limitless Friends class for children with special needs, but also encourages students with disabilities to take their typical classes as well. Classes culminate in a recital at the end of each semester.
Summer Camps
Over the summer, Dance Without Limits offers some fun half-day summer camp opportunities for kids ranging from ages 3 to 10. Stay tuned for the summer camp themes for 2020!
Out of the mouths of babes
I asked my daughter what she thought other people should know about her dance class. She said, “Miss Beth is a very good teacher for me. She is always happy to see us and fun. I know she would be a good teacher for everybody, too.”
Are you looking for a new, creative place to take your child for art class or perhaps to host their next birthday party? Let us introduce you to Kidcreate Art Studio and the creative force behind this new business now open in Greer. Local mom Kristina tells us all about Kidcreate, including the classes they offer, the birthday parties they host and when you can check out Kidcreate Art Studio for yourself!
Thank you to Kidcreate for supporting Kidding Around Greenville by sponsoring this website post.
Greenville mom Andrea Jones was ready for a change. After being a stay at home mom for several years, she was eager to put her business background to work and wanted to do something unique, to create a business to help kids grow in confidence and learn new skills.
Kidcreate Studio is just that place and opened up in Greer this fall. Kidcreate is a franchise model of art studios that cater to kids ages 18 months to 12 years and focuses entirely on being a place for kids to have fun, learn about different kinds of art and mediums, and gain confidence.
Art Classes at Kidcreate Art Studio
Kidcreate Studio will have a consistent and flexible schedule of art classes, allowing kids to come weekly to the studio and learn about various kinds of art.
Weekly classes focus on various art mediums like clay or paint. Homeschool classes will also be offered, engaging kids in exploring new art concepts and materials. Camps and one-class workshops are also on the menu at Kidcreate.
Birthday Parties at Kidcreate
I personally love art-themed birthday parties – I just don’t love them in my house. At Kidcreate, Andrea is focused on helping parents to throw an awesome art-centric birthday party, where kids can get messy and make a mess, and it will be far from your living room. You don’t even have to clean up – just show up and have fun.
At a Kidcreate birthday party, your child and their friends will each create a take-home art project with the help of a Kidcreate instructor. Your host oversees every aspect of the party and you throw a great party, with the knowledge that your child and all their friends are getting both a fun and educational experience.
Kidcreate birthday parties are 90 minutes long and are geared especially for children 3 to 12 years old. Each party includes your choice of art project, materials, invitations, supplies, a giant birthday card mural, and online printable thank you cards. Most parties are arranged for 12 children but Kidcreate can accommodate up to 25 kids for additional fees.
Birthday parties vary in cost depending on size, craft chosen, week/weekend, and what the parent wants the party to include. Most party packages start around $285 for 12 kids.
On the Go by Kidcreate Art Studio
On the Go is a neat feature of Kidcreate Art Studio. Just like it sounds, Kidcreate brings art to you instead of you having to go to the studio. This is a great option for schools, preschools, daycares, church groups, parks & rec programs, and outreach groups.
By bringing in Kidcreate, administrators don’t have to do much work to share art with their students, teams, or kids. Kidcreate brings everything that is needed to have a great experience with art, learn new skills, and walk away with something new.
Art on the Go offers scheduled classes, group activities, and community events (think festivals, fundraisers, carnivals). They really do it all when it comes to delivering a top-notch art experience to kids anywhere, at any time.

Fall is here and it’s time to head to a local farm for a corn maze, hayride and more! Local mom Kristina visited Greyrock Farms in Moore and is giving us all the details here. This local farm includes multiple corn mazes, fresh produce and pumpkins, and a working dairy farm!
Corn maze scary fun at night, kid family fun at the farm during the day is exactly what Greyrock Farms and Green Acres Produce is all about. With one of the last remaining dairy farms in the Upstate, they have a farm stand with fresh produce and fruit from April through October, and the Fall is all about pumpkins, dairy tours, and old-fashioned fun on the farm.
One of the great things I really loved about Greyrock Farms is that it is the perfect size to let your kids run around where you keep an eye on them. For no cost, the farm has playgrounds, swings, and different play structures made out of typical things you’d find a farm.
They have parking on-site, just follow the signs. The largest sign you will see when you pull up is for “Green Acres Produce” – that’s the place you are looking for. Also, be sure to wear sneakers or closed toe shoes. It’s a farm where there are ants and other crawly things so just be prepared.
Corn Maze & Dairy Tours at Greyrock Farms
If you really want to get lost in the six-acre corn maze (which is fairly easy to do), it’s $8/person and kids under two are free. You can also tour the dairy farm for $6/person and see a cow getting milked and check out all the baby cows. The tour is conducted on a hayride and ends at the pumpkin patch, where you can pick your own pumpkin right off the vine. Tours are Saturdays at 10 am and 2 pm and Sundays at 2 pm.
If you want to do both the tour and the corn maze, it’s $12/person and kids two and under are free. There are actually two corn mazes – a smaller one and a big one – which is great for kids of all ages to choose from.
Nighttime corn maze entertainment happens every Friday and Saturday night in October until 9 pm. But you have to bring your own flashlight!
Birthday Parties & Group Fun at Greyrock Farms
If your child has a fall birthday, Greyrock Farms is a perfect venue to host a party. They have a huge picnic shelter right in the middle of the big play area so kids can enjoy the farm and celebrate the birthday child.
The Standard Dairy Farm Birthday Package includes an hour shelter reservation, wagon ride and dairy tour and costs $150 for 12 children ($8/each additional child). The Ultimate Dairy Farm Package includes everything on the standard package plus goody bags, cow train, and paper products and decorations. That package is $200 for 12 kids ($10/each additional child).
If you want to go all out, choose the Cooowww-riffic Dairy Farm Package which includes everything in the aforementioned parties plus a cow cake, 12 cupcakes and ice cream cups, and a baby calf at the party that can be bottle fed by guests (awwww!). This package is $250 for 12 kids ($12/each additional child). All packages include a party hostess, set up and breakdown, and access to the play areas. Parents are free to bring food, ice cream and cake.
The farm also hosts lots of church groups and field trips over the fall as well. The corn maze especially sees lots of activity for group outings (and it makes a great date activity, especially at night!). They will even do a big bonfire if your group wants to really get in the fall spirit.
Greyrock Farms is ideal for family fun during the fall but don’t forget they also have strawberry picking come April. That’s actually how I first heard of them – my oldest daughter had a field trip there one spring to pick strawberries. They were absolutely delicious and I was delighted to learn about all the activities the farm has for families in the fall season. They are open through the end of October so be sure to put this great farm on your fall bucket list.

Kangaroo Jax, an indoor bounce house complete with a ferris wheel, carousel, arcade games, and concessions can help you out. Read on to learn all about this new, indoor play place your kids will love!

About Kangaroo Jax
I first heard of Kangaroo Jax through a friend and honestly did not believe it to be as cool as she said. Kids can bounce around for as many hours as they like for one admission fee? And they can ride a carousel and ferris wheel for no extra charge?
This place does exist and it’s as neat as you’ve probably heard. Not only do they have an enormous space filled with things to help your kid get out energy, they also do birthday parties!
Admission Pricing
Monday through Friday, kids are $10 each and Saturday and Sunday $12 each. There is no limit to how long your child can play. Kids up to 12 years old are welcome to play at Kangaroo Jax.
But what about the little kids? During the week, children ages 2-5 can play for just $7 from 10 am – 2 pm.
What about kids under the age of two? Can they come? Yes! There is actually an entire space at Kangaroo Jax dedicated to kids under four years old. As a parent of a child in this age range, I love this feature because it helps my peace of mind to know that no big kids will accidentally be knocking around my little one.
If you bring children younger than two years old by themselves, their admission ticket is $7. If you bring them with an older sibling, they are free. We like free.
Birthday Parties
A good birthday party is one where parents have little to no work to do and kids have all the fun. That’s the secret sauce at Kangaroo Jax. They do everything for parents, from setting up the room with balloons and table settings to ordering and serving the food, which comes with the Mega Party and Ultimate Party packages.
The baseline Jax’s Birthday Party includes 10 guests, two hours of party room use, set-up and tear down, online invitations, paper goods and balloons, and one party host. This party package is $249 Friday – Sunday and $169 Monday – Thursday.
The Jax’s Mega Party includes all of the above in addition to two slices of pizza plus one soft drink per child and is $279 Friday – Sunday and $199 Monday – Thursday.
The Jax’s Ultimate Party includes all of the above plus party favors. This party is $300 Friday – Sunday and $229 Monday – Thursday.
Parents can add more than 10 children for a party to each package for an additional fee. If they want more pizza or extra balloons or extra drink pitchers, those options are available as well.
The only thing parents can bring to the party is a birthday cake/cupcakes. No other outside food or drink is permitted. When the party is over, all of the guests are able to play on the main floor until closing time.
And for us procrastinating parents, Kangaroo Jax allows parents to book a party with only three days’ notice. However, they do recommend booking your date ahead of time, especially on weekends, since they tend to fill up fast.
Tips When You Go
I took my kids to Kangaroo Jax on a big school holiday so there were a lot of kids, but it never felt too crowded or overwhelming since the place is huge and there are lots of things to do. I love that this place is open on most school holidays and breaks (and even snow days) and all summer when the kids are out of school. It has gone straight to the top of my “things to do with kids” list.
One thing to note is that your kids will need socks, so be sure to bring them or have an extra pair or two in your car.
Also, fill out your waiver online to save time so when you get to Kangaroo Jax you won’t have anxious kids waiting to play!
Kangaroo Jax has concessions including pizza, pretzels, and even coffee, which makes it pretty easy to spend a good chunk of time there. The owners were insightful about the needs of families when they designed the place.
So when you need a break and the kids need a place to get out their enormous supply of energy, try Kangaroo Jax!
